Help with offset calculation
Recently bought a 535xD f11 and contemplating putting the winter wheel setup from my 335i on it.
Current (summers) set up on 535 is: 19” 351m square on 8.5s ET33 Winter setup on 335: 18” 189m staggered 8/8.5s ET34/37 Running it through an offset calculator I get this: Fronts: Inner clearance 5 mm more. Outer clearance retract by 7mm (from outside of fender) Rears: Inner 4 mm less. Outer retract 4mm Would putting 5 mm spacers on all corners make it closer to spec, or am I misunderstanding things? |

Your numbers look right, and I'm sure you can do 5mm spacers with no issues.

Offset Calculation
cdmulders I noticed you have a pretty crisp grasp of offset and wheel fitting which I saw in few posts. So my question is very similar to the other gentleman who asked about fitment on staggered set up for F10.
I have 2014 535d Lux line which is essentially just upgraded wheels (19 vs base 18's). Now I want to add a winter set wheels R18's and found a used set (OEM BMW) near me. The wheels for sale are style 415, and based on research came from 3 series. Here is the comparison of my current set (I am just posting rim measurements). Current OEM wheels on F10: 19x 8.5, with offset of 33. Square. Proposed winter set (from 3 series): 18x8, offset 34. Square. Now, if I look at base 535d wheels (OEM) 18's, the measurements are: 18x8, offset 30. Do I need spacers or anything to make my winter set using 3 series rims (style 415). I am agnostic to the looks, just want to be sure nothing hits the suspension parts and has enough clearance when I mount the winter set on. Based on rim calculators, I would gain about 5mm (18 wheels would be narrower). Does that sound right? |

From what you tell me, the style 415 wheels will work with no problems. You are correct - with the wheel being 8" wide vice 8.5" (compared to your 19" wheels) then the sides will move inwards by 6mm each. This more than compensates for the 18" offset increase (from 18" wheel OEM of 30mm to 34mm). Yes, the wheels will looked mildly more tucked in than your 19" wheels, by about 7mm (just over 1/4") but there should not be any problems with suspension. Make sure you put on the correct tires, which would be 245/45/18. I have in fact used 245/50/18 on 18" x 8" wheels for winter tires, and it worked amazingly well. Good luck!
