Whats going on with this bumper?

Just bought this 535i M-sport w/ 25k Miles.

It was involved in one accident at 20k miles where the driver hit something in a parking lot, no critical damage but I believe the bumper was replaced by a BMW approved shop (it was a lease vehicle). I'm not sure whats going on here with the foglight area of the bumper, one side is open to the intercooler (I believe) and the other side has this white plastic backing...

How do I remove this so both sides are matching haha? Cheers

Some dummy unfamiliar with the vehicle painted the inner baffles and foglamp mounting structure that are not supposed to be painted.

You can remove the drivers grill and pull the baffles off, that the inner structure that provides the foglamp fixture is still painted and part of the bumper.

Take it back to the shop that screwed it up and have them fix their work.

Thanks for the info. The shop that fixed it is in California and I'm in Texas. It seems like the white part behind the foglamp can be removed, is that what your referring to? It looks like it shouldn't be there at all like the passenger side.

Edit: I think this may solve it. The foglight grill/housing is removable without tools.

The baffle inserts to either side of the drivers fog lamp will come out yes, they are for a car without a oil cooler. Once removed there is still the vertical support structure that the fog lamps mount to which is painted on your car and should not be.

As such:
