It's tough because of the location of the part, it's going to take the brunt of whatever comes at you. so just because you sought to improve poor materials (specifically the screws) takes their control over what the materials should and should not do away. Hence not doing anything about it. A lip spoiler your probably looking to replace if cheap enough (like I am) probably every couple years. Alternately you can research how to better enforce the screws you put in and see if your own engineering can solve the problem. Or overpay for something that's going to get hit with everything you drive through.
Except, I didn't super glue the handle. It's more like if you got an ikea bed frame, and suddenly the rails give out because ikea gave you shitty hardware that wasn't up to the task. They were the ones who supplied the hardware, the onus is on them to make sure the hardware they supplied is adequate for the application.

Regardless, they agreed to a replacement after I insisted it was a them problem, not a me problem. Given how easily they capitulated, they likely knew it was their fault and that eBay would force them to replace or refund anyhow.

But no one buys ikea to last. At least I hope not.

No one said it has to last. But it should still last at least for it's warranty period, no? I got this lip a month ago lmao

Also, something not built to last and something that was never sufficiently strong from the get go are two distinctly different things

I'm not saying they might not produce total duds for material at all costs. I'm not trying to pick a side I'm just saying I see their point despite the frustration, which I would be here talking about it too. It serves as a warning for all of us for this vendor and this particular product. That's what I was looking for. They may have other products that are better because the time and material the manufacturer is willing to spend is less likely to have an issue, such as deck spoilers and the other bolt ons. This is possibly because the odds of that piece being installed improperly (not saying that's the case) or being misused (like slamming into something) is less likely.

At that point, why bother warrantying an item then? If you're not going to warranty replace the item for an issue and instead argue with the customer about all the ways they could have misused it to essentially worm your way out of the warranty, isn't a warranty just a lip service at that point?

I absolutely do not see their point. They provided the hardware, I installed it according to the instructions, it failed, their fault. Simple as that.

Then don't do business with them. I mean good grief. I'm not defending the warranty or the brand. But bad warranties from companies that produce cheap plastic products just really shouldn't come as a surprise.

Closets look nice but your also not probably not moving it around. I have ikea stuff too but it isn't items I'm hard on. I don't consider opening and closing closet drawers something people are hard with. But trying going through a couple moves with that furniture and see how it holds up. I worked for a retail furniture store so I do have some idea, plus ikea made my college living situation affordable. It has its uses, but would you buy an ikea bed? I doubt it if you want it to last.

But.... you are defending their warranty. You're saying "I see their point as to why they'd deny the warranty". That's literally defending their warranty policy lol.

You're right. Feel better about yourself. Don't buy their stuff. Lesson learned for you. Now, find someone else to bother. It's not defending something to be understanding of a position. I'm not out here saying no your absolutely wrong and have no point. I'm just saying they have a point as well, as bad as that point might be.

Saying someone has a point implies that they have a good point. You seem quite confused about what you're trying to say.

I'm confused as to what point you think they even have. I presented my specific case, which is 100% their fault, yet you keep saying "yea but it might not be their fault" when it's literally their fault. That's a bruh moment lol. You have to understand, they made a HM replica. The HM lip uses the OEM bumper holes on the bottom of the bumper to mount. If the hardware they provided RIPPED OUT of those holes within a month of use, how is that not 100% their fault?

Refunds

Any items returned will be inspected for quality and condition. We will notify you immediately on the status of your refund after the inspection of the item.

Upon approval, we will initiate a refund to your credit card (or original method of payment). You will receive your credit back within a certain amount of business day, depending on your card issuer's policy.

Here is the refund policy from ikonmotorsports
.com. Doesn't sound like you followed this process. Maybe your a licensed body expert. I don't know. I asked for feedback and you start ranting. I'm sure you did everything just perfectly and nothing (absolutely nothing) but the parts caused this problem and now for shame. For shame ikon for not going out of your way on a $250 part that literally costs pennies on the dollar. Yes, they should spend money for someone to answer your complaint, dig in, and really have a stellar customer experience. On the other hand they can mass produce a cheap product and price it and a point a wide audience finds acceptable. Is it possible that a certain percent of people might complain and/or have an issue which they won't care about? Basic economics if you ask me. But what would I know either. I'm just some dude somewhere.

Congrats, you found their refund policy, which has jack all to do with a warranty policy. Nowhere on their warranty does it say "void if not installed by professional" so it doesn't matter if I'm a professional or not. You're right about one thing though, I did nothing wrong on the install because there's nothing to go wrong. Stick a bolt through a hole, put nut on bolt, tighten nut down, don't gorilla it. What's there to go wrong unless you're literally incompetent with tools?

Yes, they're mass producing cheap parts (and in the process blatantly infringing on the IP of all kinds of companies) from some rando factory in China, so yes there's bound to be QA issues due to lack of testing of parts. Heck, the lip I got had a paint chip that I didn't even bother warrantying for because it was barely noticeable once it was installed. The people running these aftermarket eBay stores probably haven't even touched 99% of the vehicles they make stuff for. So, having said that, wouldn't that be exactly the point of having a warranty policy? They KNOW they have non-existent QA (which they obviously won't admit), so to try to say "nah warranty doesn't apply" when it's a QA related issue seems dodgy as fuck to me. Using your warranty to cover for your dodgy QA to preserve your all important eBay score (which is where they sell the vast majority of their goods) seems like basic economics to me.

just want to add that alot of the parts i get especially the lip, skirt extensions comes with dinky hardware and cheap double sided tape. i usually laugh about it and say are they seriously think i'm going to use these? which i end up buying stronger or bigger hardware followed with 3m or Gorilla double sided tape.

Ikon should just make their customers happy and either replace the item or a refund. or work with the customer

Yep, these kinds of sellers usually have very little experience with hardware. They think along the lines of "a bolt is a bolt, tape is tape, what's the difference between a 1 cent bolt and a 1 dollar bolt? I could save a buck!"

I've bought the 3D front lip from IKon. Hardware ended up failing in a year too, had to do own retrofit and create a new bracket. I think when I first got it, some paint was flaking.. they offered me a 20% refund or something if I remember correctly.

I had tried doing tape twice with mine and it got loose every time... Do you know how bad it would suck if that thing flew off in a corner? I checked it every time I washed the car and one time I put barely any pressure on it and it popped off... tape just won't hold long term. That's my 2 cents!
