The E60 has a more aggressive stance and look imo... But we shall see tomorrow.

It is not about hitting them, it is about what happens when they are hit.

Previous cars with low bumpers force the pedestrian onto the hood and into the windshield or over the car. The higher bumpers and hood now impact the pedestrian higher and keep them in front of the car, thrown into the line of fire, where they are ultimately run over if you can't stop in time.

Either way, lose-lose.

ps. it also helps when you hit a moose or elk. previous impacts meant that it was coming through the windshield and in the car with you. Now you hit it and it stays on the ground where it should.

i think your assesemnt of the whole pedestrian safe hood is flawed. This whole 'run over' point is complete BS. When most of these accidents happen the speeds are low. It's at the low speeds where danger is and it's at low speeds where new design saves lives. That's why it's there. At high speed, it doesn't matter what shape it is, it's metal and it's gonna be fatal most of the time. But at low speed hitting bonned that actually pops up a bit and glides you up vs putting head straight through the windshield is a difference betwee few broken ribs and a cracked skull. So it's not the same thing. New design is helpful. Period.

The new 5er face looks better than old one by a country mile. And it's way better than Merc or Audi A6 so well done. Let's hope the rear is as impressive, old car's rear was pretty nice actually.
