Depressurize air system before replacing release valve?

I’m going to replace the release valve on my F11 since the air suspension is dropping overnight on both sides. I’m hoping the valve is the problem. Could it be an issue removing the hoses going to the air suspension bags without first somehow deflating the system? I may also try to replace the release valve without removing the compressor from the car. Basically what I’m concerned about is what’s going to happen when I either remove the hoses or the release valve when the system is under pressure.
