Repairable or insurance write off?

So last week my beloved D5 was on a motorway roundabout and a HGV decided he wanted to share my lane *

Long story short, the whole of the drivers side is damaged, including the rear quarter panel. Now the body shop who have estimated the repairs have said the rear quarter would need to be replaced- so they intend to chop it out and weld another one in. I'm not too savvy with this sort of stuff but isn't that structural? Anyway, I've attached the photo from the outside and the inside of the wing itself.

The report has been sent to the insurance engineers to have their say first but just interested in others opinions on this?

The bodyshop will more than likely be replacing the rear quarter outer skin which is an acceptable repair and the structural integrity will be maintained.

What has the insurer said? are they repairing the car?

Its definitely repairable.

From an insurance point of view, it would only be classed as a write off (or Total loss) if the value of repairs exceeds the value of the vehicle, or in most insurers case if the repair is atleast 60-80% of the vehicle value.
