Megan Coilover Question

Anyone with Megan coilovers - did your set come with the adjusting wrenches? And did your rear struts come with the top hat? Thx!

Mine came with a set of wrenches and you will have to reuse your OEM top hats for the rear.

Sweet that’s helpful. Can you adjust the height just by jacking it up, without taking off the wheel?

You won't have much space to work with if you don't take the wheel off.

I hear the Megan's and BC's are very similar if not the same? I think the Megan's are ok. Was tough finding a good damper setting that suited me, but I think now it's more or less stock feeling. I'm sure it handles better, but don't remember pre-lowered anymore. It's not going to handle as good as a much smaller car though, the car is a tank.

I've been on the forums for awhile especially when it was very active a couple of years ago and from the post I would see regarding Megan's and BC most guys went with the Megan's with good reviews. Was gonna go with the Megan's but got a really ridiculous deal on a set of KWv1's from a member here

Had BC with swift springs on my E60 M5 and compared to the KW setup I had on my other E60 I was actually very impressed with the BC setup. So much so, I went with BCs on my E70 X5 35d. Turns out they were horrible in the rears but if you own an E70, you just know the geometry of that suspension does not do well with lowered suspension. My point is the quality of the ride isn’t universal across all platforms. Also keep in mind budget coilovers will naturally have less expectations than those buying KWs for obvious reasons. So sometimes “good reviews” are rather subjective. Personally, I’d look at H&R’s VTF option before going with budget coilovers.

I've had BC coilovers on a few of my cars in the past and have nothing but good things to say about them. Had them on my e36, my e36 m3 and my e60. I also had KW v2's on my speed3 and absolutely loved my kw's.

I see alot of guys on YouTube posting videos of their BC Coilovers with great reviews on all platforms. Something I did not see a few years ago

Do you guys with coil overs run stiffer dampers in the front or back? My assumption is rear - based on my convo with Megan.

its preference and how you drive your car. the good thing is they're adjustable so you can figure out how you like it.

Is anyone running them with the "out of the box" damper settings? I'm not going to track mine and mainly wanted height adjustability over rebound and compression. Looking for a decent ride at the height I want. I like a cup kit but haven't seen one for the F10 and not sure it will go low enough. Not slamming it but it will be noticeable

I just got BCs. I like them. Stock damper settings. Have yet to play with settings. Definitely harsher than stock that's for sure.

A tip that I read online was to adjust the front first, make them as stiff as you feel comfortable with (you'll feel the increased stiffness in the steering wheel immediately), and then begin to adjust the rear dampers making them more stiff until you're comfortable. The rears ended up being few ticks stiffer for me, and I finally feel comfortable with them.. and I do notice turns are way better than stock now.

Anyone that went megan coilovers willing to give a review of their ride since install? I'm looking to purchase a set but after seeing the factor spring rates I'm a bit concerned that its too soft for me to lower my car with. Website states

SPRING RATES:
Front Spring: 10kg
Rear Spring: 4.5kg

The rears concern me since I want to lower my car enough to cover all wheel gap. I'm worried I'll rub while driving.

I have no wheel gap, and no rub. I'm on M5 343's. The rates might be on the soft end, to me it just gives more of the floating feel at some points? if that makes sense.

I get it but with no wheel gap can you have people in your back seat without rubbing then?

I never have anyone in my back seats lol. I think it might partially rub, bcuz when the tires were 100% brand new I did hear it slightly rub.
