F10 535i vibration

Hello guys!
Maybe someone can help me!
I have a 2013 535i Msport.
I'm having vibrations at highway speeds (65-80mph) have tried replacing tires, rims, have checked all the suspension parts, did road force balancing. Nothing helps!
I'm ready to give up on this car (even though i really like it)
After searching forums i came to a conclusion that it's a known issue on the F10's

well shit! so it's not the wheels? are you checking everything yourself or are you having the dealer check? any recalls? I had one for driveline related recall. they had to drop my whole exhaust down to get to it. i'll have to go back and see what that component was as it said it would cause driveline vibrations

Yeah, i think it's drivetrain related.
No, I'm not checking everything myself.
Might check the drive shaft (maybe flax disc)

I'm assuming your car is all wheel drive. I would check the balance of the drive axles. You never indicated whether braking had anything to do with the vibration do I would rule out rotors.

Thank you for the advice.
No, my car is rear wheel drive.
Front and rear rotors were recently replaced, no vibration when braking.

The whole car is vibrating. Almost nothing at the stearing wheel.
Alignment was done couple of months ago, did check all the bushings and controll arms, everything seems to be ok.
The weird thing is that sometimes it vibrates more, sometimes less. And i have noticed that during winter time when the temperature outside was below 35, there is almost no vibration. It is weird.

I had a '13 535 that did the same thing. Went through several tire/wheel combinations but it never went away.

Steering Wheel vibration when hitting bumps - too much road feel?

Dear BMW drivers - I have a CPO 2016 535i xDrive M-trim and I've noted a couple of vibration "anomalies" in the few months I've owned it. I'm not sure how much of it is normal for this model of car, and how much it might be a problem. I transitioned from a 2014 Mercedes E350 (similar size), so my comparisons are based on that experience. First, I note that a lot more "road feel" seems to be coming through the steering wheel - rougher pavement means much more vibration and jolting of the wheel on small bumps (not that rough - just normal roads with patches), and much less on smooth (recently paved) roads. When going over any size bumps (particularly at highway speeds) there is a damped oscillation (kind of a brief shimmy) that is felt in the steering wheel that I've never experienced with another car, and I'm not sure whether this is normal or not either. I don't like it much. Even at lower speeds, it feels as if the steering wheel reacts in that manner on bumps, but just to a lower level. Your thoughts?

Do you have runflats? If so that's gonna he the cause of having more road feel, slightly vibration and more noisy tires. Just due to runflats having a lot stiffer sidewalls which means they can't absorb bumps as much or flex like normal tires!

Could be a bad axle shaft. I had this issue on my old e90 335i and it would vibrate like hell at highway speeds....anywhere from a slight vibration at 80mph to the whole dash dancing around at 140mph (Autobahn). The way I figured it out was I jacked the rear of the car up, turned off traction control and stability control, and ran the back wheels up to the speed where the vibrations were most noticeable. Turned out the drivers rear had more visible shake (up and down wobble) than the left, and replacing the CV axle shaft solved the highway vibration.

If you do jack the car up and run it through the gears, have someone in the drivers seat while you're in the back inspecting. Not a safe practice, but it worked for me.

Yes - I do have run-flats. They came with the CPO purchase, so I'm not sure whether they are OEM or not. They do appear to have a rather aggressive tread, but they are not snow tires. Most likely all-weather run-flats.

Hi, I’m new to the forum.
I too am having vibration issues with my 2013 535xi (F10). I’ve had it since new and replacing 2 rims and all four tires did the trick; up until this past month when the car started to shutter when braking and also noticed a vibration at 65 and above. I brought it into the dealer and ended up replacing the other 2 rims, all four rotors and brake pads, and a wheel alignment Suffice to say the bill was large. AND THE VIBRATION IS WORSE!

I brought it back to the dealer and they “ checked and found the L/S thrust rod bushing torn and leaking fluid”. They want $900 to fix. I coudn’t leave the car and I declined. I also fussed about the mechanic not noticing this when they just did all the previous work. The SA apologized and will speak to his manager about pricing etc.

I’m wondering
1. if the author of the original post in this thread found and fixed the problem and

2. How difficult is it to replace these things? I did some research and a few folks mention replacing the entire arm instead of pressing in new bushings.

Thanks
Anthony

I would look at FCP euro for the parts... It might be cheaper there than buying them at dealership.
