Would it be possible to set the political subforum to private/invite?

That place is a cesspool and I'd really prefer it to not exist on the search bar.

Can we make that forum opt in. Or hell ban me from seeing it?

He’s saying he doesnt want to see it not that no one should see it. An opt in option would actually be nice. Keep my blood pressure from spiking 3 times a day

I’d love to have more control over what I see when I click “New Posts”. my results frequently seem to be filled with sponsors posting a new photo of a customers car...

Reading isn’t your strong suit is it?

Exactly. It’s obviously the most active part of this forum...which makes me a little sad honestly, but I have zero interest in political banter on a car forum. If the subforum was opt-in, it could keep the usual suspects engaged in that conversation and potential new members from seeing that this forum is 50% Trump love/hate.

That would be brilliant too. (Though you can’t mute forums, you can mute users. So you can mute a particular sponsor account and not see those)

Damn. I tried searching. I guess the search function > me today. I'll check those out. Thank you.

Though I'd still love to see an option to just knock out political forums from my view entirely, this is a decent bandaid.

agreed. dump the political forums. its a needless subforum that divides users. the current off topic exclusion isn't enough. i might like to read other off topic posts, just not the political ones. the politics subforum is the worst thing about this site.

lmao. Brilliant. I know the admins/mods can do this. I just...need them to do this.

I still think making it an opt-in would be the best option, but I'll take a sub forum ban, as well.

If you're banned from a subforum, will it not appear on "New posts" or "today's posts" results?

If so, could a mod please ban me from the politics subforum? I'd love to clear the clutter out of the new posts function, I just wanna talk about BMWs man.

Exactly. I think it wouldn't be an issue except that it's become the most active sub forum here. The 'New Post' search has more political threads then technical thread, which doesn't make sense for a automotive forum. Do those guys even drive 1 series cars anymore or do they just come here to rap about politics?

Why don't you guys just click the icon to exclude off topic posts when looking at the "new posts" list? It's at the top left corner of the list. That will leave the new post list to only car forums

I do sometimes, but I don't want all off topic discussion gone. I just want the political section gone. (From my view)

I usually use the "today's posts" function just out of habit so I had no clue that button existed, looks like that button gives me almost exactly what I wanted but I'm a little in the dark about what it's actually excluding from the results?

Looks like clicking that button on the "new posts" function also applies it to the "todays post" function so that's nice.

New threads inbound!

"Would Trump have held his press conference with Putin in a car dealership?"

"Did Ricky Bobby ever race through the whitehouse?"
