So I had a shop try and install this valve and it doesn't appear to fit. The OEM valve sits all the way down. Is the part defective or is this how it is supposed to be installed?

I read that, but when we tried to put it back in, it really seemed like it wasn't going to go back in correctly. I thought it would be best not to chance it and ask first.

Just a thought, if this valve is basically just opening the valve 100% of the time, why not just remove it? I saw several videos of the n55 oil cooler valve being switch with its spring and essentially doing the same thing, but for free.

So they confirmed from my pictures that it is correct. It should be installed like that which is as you can see at least an inch higher.
Kind of makes me think more that this valve could probably just be removed or easily modified to have the same results without the $200 price tag |

I did not install it. We were not able to get a response from them in time so it will have to wait until next oil change.
The customer service for them is terrible. Nothing but attitude and rude responses. I would never buy from them again and suggest everyone refrain from using any of their products. I think the community can use vendors who appreciate customers and strive to provide quality customer service. |

It's probably there to restrict flow. If it's completely gone, I imagine it might take too long to heat up.

This valve essentially makes the oil circulate through the oil cooler at all times. It is fabricated to compress the spring all the way and simulate a completely open stock valve. Would be the same as if it wasn't there at all unless I'm missing something.

Please read posts fully and comprehend what is being said prior to posting a reply. Your reply has no relevance what so ever. You had great experiences? That's great, but what does that have to do with mine?
Maybe I didnt clearly explain the situation in a way you would understand. A shop, not me. A shop pulled out the factory valve. When comparing it to the new one and looking at the instructions. We did not feel the new valve matched the description provided. (Compare image to description "spring will sit higher" it isn't the spring that is higher. The entire valve is higher. Ok, at this point if you're following me, we decided to wait until the seller replied to confirm we are good to proceed. The seller.and this is where the experience was negative for me(not the product to be clear since you seem to have misunderstood that part) replied with attitude and sounded like a jerk. Now, I was extremely frustrated that the description was so vague and that we wasted our time which means money when your at a shop so to receive attitude at this point was just not acceptable. So I just paid a shop to install this valve and it doesn't fit. I have a 2012 bmw 550i which this is intended for. See attached pictures with factory valve and your valve. Who is going to pay for the lost shop time? Is the part defective? Code:
That’s how it goes in ! It sits higher !
