535i at Night but no Trunk Lights?

What’s up with my trunk tail lights not being on? I kinda like it, but I’m also confused considering there’s no dash lights about it. Would like to know what’s up with it though.. Weird!

Nothing's wrong. That is normal. The deck lights only light up (and flash I believe) during "panic" braking. It's in the OM.

Just checked mine - the lights on the trunk lid light up when the car is turned on or unlocked so I see the tail light from each end through to the trunk - the stripes light up all the way - is that what you were asking?

I sit corrected. The inner lights do light-up on our 2012 (I didn't check the 2014). It's the inner (deck lid) brake lights that are the brake force display.

I would check the wiring harness and see if there is an unplugged or loose connection.

Looked at some older photos and for me the lights in the trunk stay lit as well.
