Front Entrance Strip Question
I have the ambient lighting option (4UR) on my '13 535, and I am looking for a replacement front entrance strip for the left hand (driver's) side. It's missing the "W", and I hate looking at that every time I get in and out of the car.
I've debated taking it by the local dealer and seeing if it would be covered by original warranty, but being that I bought at another dealer I don't want to start off on the wrong foot bringing them a car with a few warranty trim issues, if they're even covered. Has anyone had one of these entrance strips replaced under warranty for losing its' letters? Anyway, I found this part on ECS tuning, which appears to be what I'm looking for: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/51477203607/ However, I just checked in my garage and can't see any sign of ambient lighting coming from either LHF or RHF entrance strips. I looked the part up on real OEM and I don't see another option that's not the "individual" or "M" entrance strip. How apparent is the ambient lighting?

Eh dealers are becoming increasingly hesitant to replace anything cosmetic on a used BMW. If you bought it new, then perhaps they might make an exception. I asked my dealer if they would replace the rear A/C vent in my car b/c one of the horizontal slats was missing when I bought it as CPO from BMW of Wilmington (NC) (mind you it's still under full factory warranty as well) - they refused and pretty much said BMW makes the case that if you wanted a cosmetically perfect vehicle, then you should've bought a new one. Whatever...

Yeah, that was what I thought they might say about it. Thanks for the input.

Ok, I've found the proper part. It's this one here:
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ce/51477203601 It's $50. I'd rather buy that and save the grief of the dealer telling me to shove off on a trim issue. I'll wait until it's something expensive that requires replacement. Thanks for the help everyone.

It seems that they are not lighted in my car's case, even with ambient lighting. Not sure why.

OP: I had the drivers side entrance strip replaced by the dealer (under original warranty) about 3.9 years into my ownership. In my case, the B and M fell off in the winter. I found the letters and glued them on but they kept slipping around. The replacement was NOT an argument. I mentioned it; dealer replaced it no charge.
Give it a try; the worst they can say is no.

I would agree with you on this, as I have those lights, but not from the entrance strips.

Yeah, I would just buy it for $50 and not deal with it. Just fyi, my wife's CPO F10 had the same issue and a different dealership than the one we bought her car from replaced it under the original warranty. My last car, F07 was also a CPO and when I bought it the fan symbol on the button was rubbed off and they replaced the complete temp control faceplate.
