Extended Service Contracts

My CPO 535i is coming up to the end of the 4 yr/50,000 mi Factory Maintenance Program next month (at 38k miles now) and I have been thinking whether it was worth it to get the BMW Extended Service contracts?

Has anyone purchased an extended service contract from BMW recently? Any details around pricing updates?
Is platinum warranty premium over gold worth it?
Any limitations that come with the ESCs?

A dealer in Houston provided the following quote: 2 yr/100K for $2700, and 3 yr /100 K for $3400. Based on some of the responses in other forum threads I've also reached out to a few out of state BMW dealers requesting quotes... (Jeff Steel and Greg Poland) and am waiting on their responses.

Any advice, suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Your driving habits will dictate whether the agreement is worth it or not. Low driving miles, probably not worth it; high mileage, probably is.

As an FYI, that's less than what I paid for my 3 year extension in Los Angeles... Though I did take advantage of a BMW rebate they had last year that effectively dropped the cost to $3100.

Hi! I have a 2014 535i with 16,500 miles / fully loaded w/ navigation, back up camera, etc.

My new car warranty expires tomorrow at midnight. I plan to keep the car for at least two more years. This is my third BMW and with both of my two previous cars (3 series) I started having problems after 24,000 miles. I have not had one issue with my 5 series (although in the four years I've not driven it much except for on the highway.)
I went to my local BMW dealership and my Service Advisor quoted me the following prices for a BMW Extended Service Contract (terms are from an in service date of 3/21/2014 @ zero miles.

Maintenance Only / 2 year / 50k miles = $2295

Mechanical Plans:
Platinum / 72months / 75k miles = $4699
Gold / 72 months / 75k miles = $4349

The service manager said this is the best pricing he can provide. However, a month ago they gave me the exact print out (but the pricing was $1000 lower) for the gold and the platinum plans. The Service Manager said he doesn't set the pricing, that BMW sets the pricing and it fluctuates constantly. Is this true?

Does anyone know if these prices are negotiable? Should I just purchase the maintenance plan? Should I call around to other BMW Dealerships to see what type of pricing they can offer?

I have to make a decision pretty quick because tomorrow my new car factory warranty expires. I really appreciate any help that anyone can provide to me.

Thank you so much!

I have a 14 528 with 33,000 miles i purchased new and am also looking at some type of warranty. I've gotted quotes from non BMW and waiting on 1 from local BMW. I'm almost in the "self fund" camp because i may trade in a couple years. I did get one on my wife's '08 X5 when it came off lease. The NAV went out n her car and we saved money. It's a gamble.
