Shocks upgrade on F10: Bilstein B8 or B12
I dropped my F10 using ACS + Stock shocks in 2015
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1155711 3 years later and reality is that I'm going to keep the car as I have other priorities. Since installing the ACS I've had the shocks replaced under warranty by BMW. I'm prepping myself for when I need to replace the shocks again and leaning towards Bilstein Should I keep the ACS and add B8 or just get the B12 Pro Kit (which is just a B8 + So back package)? B8 shocks is around 800 euros delivered B12 Pro Kit is strangely the same cost for the entire 4 corners. |

With the B8 and B12 I'm assuming you are going for much a stiffer ride? My understanding is that on an F10, Koni sports are a little softer and rebound adjustable... Seems like many just end up doing KW V1,2,3 coil overs because the V1 is close in cost to a spring+sport shock combo and there is a good deal of labor involved so the overall added cost is small. Seems like almost everyone has positive reviews about KW.

Sway Bars
If you would like to maintain stiffer but decent ride, I would use the stock shocks and upgrade the sway bars; it rides nice and corners much better than the stock suspension. The stock suspension is know to be soft/leaning in the corners.
I did it to my f10 and really like. I bought the upgraded swary bars from Eibach; front and rear were about $440 and very easy to install. After market shocks are a problem as you do not know what performance you will get until you put them on, ride could be very rough. |
