Dinan thinks all 550 owners just throw money out the window asking 3K for a few metal pipes that they call an "intake". A lot of us come from years of modding cars so we know what these things should cost.

^^ if you do I will be the first one on your list. There are more guys modding 550's than there are 535 on this forum. I can't imagine what the twin turbo V8 would sound like with an open style intake system

The Dinan is more that just an intake. It also replaces the cross braces in the motor. It isnt a replacement intake, it is more of a suppimental air that combines with the Stock intake to increase air flow. I just had badblack make up the inner air filters to increase air flow from the Dinan and OEM intake into the motor. He is using a KandN style filter to remove the restriction of air into the car. The problem is to create a replacement air intake system, you would need to do quite a bit of engineering to replace the factory air boxes. It seems to me that the OEM air induction area could be made larger, but a replacement would require removing the front bumper. I too would like to see some competition to Dinan as it would drive prices down. I picked up the intake for 2k brand new and also picked up the Dinan inter-coolers for 2k. It seems the mod community does not think there are alot of people modifying the 550 model, which is silly because these V8's are AMAZING at the HP and Torque they can generate. If you could build a better intake system, the Dinan inter-coolers would eliminate any heat from under the hood intakes as well. Heck, no one even makes the OEM replacement filters which is crazy as that would be EASY snap in HP. For now, remove the carbon filters for better air flow, but make sure to cut off the tits that hold them in place to eliminate pieces flying into the turbo. With the dinan exhaust (which is a perfect sound), dinan intake and Dinan intercoolers matched up with a BMS stage 2 chip, I am getting my 0-60 times at 4.0 to 4.1 seconds with P3 onboard computer for results.
