Everything in idrive reset overnight ?
Woke up this morning only to find out that everything in my idrive had reset itself! All my radio presets and other settings had gone back to factory default! Anyone ever experience this?

I have had that happen a couple times. And it does NOT matter which key you use. I have no explanation why it happens, just that sometimes you can shut the car off and restart to get your profile back, you can manually engage the profile in vehicle settings (on the iDrive), or if you just drive the car some they'll eventually start working.
It's so intermittent that I won't even consider bringing it to the dealer. But if you find a way to make it happen consistently, please let me know. |

I had this happen a couple of times on my e60 550i from my son leaving a light on in the back, drained the battery. I think it is designed to shut everything down and leave a reserve amount to start the car. All my defaults would be gone when this happened. Not sure if this is the same with the F10, so this may be a stretch, but you may have a battery drain.

I was using the same key fob!
The car is only 2 weeks old so I can't imagine it being a battery issue? I'll see if it happens again...if it does I'll bring the car in. |

Yeah, like I said... it's happened to me 2 or 3 times but it's so hard to replicate I can't imagine the dealer being able to do anything about it. If they do find something please let me know. When it happens it feels like you're driving someone else's car. Everything is different.
As for the battery drainage, I know my car does really random things when it sits. I'll go out in the garage to grab something (no keys near the car) and it'll start humming, gurgling, whistling, buzzing... all sorts of noises. I'm sure it's just running a system check or doing something it's pre-programed to do, but it's definitely "operating" in some way even though it's shut down. And because I don't drive the car but a couple times a week, I could understand how that stuff might run the battery down a little. But it's never had trouble starting and I can't fathom shutting down the iDrive would save all that much juice. Odd... |

Happenned to me only once in a 2-month period of ownership. No clue why. It was not because of 2nd fob as that one is in the drawer since getting the car.
On a side note, as I mostly take the car out of the garage only on weekends, reading about battery getting drained because of 'bad driving profile', guess I should be looking at the maintenance charger that appears in the accessories catalog.. |

Its been a long time since the car left the factory and the battery may not have been fully charged yet, depending on how far you have driven it. The whole process of getting to you (Into and out of car carriers and ships) and short drives at the dealer drains the battery a lot.

idrive resetting and shutting down
The same thing started happening to my one year old 535i about a month ago.
Then, about a week ago, idrive completely shut down while driving, only the BWM screen would display and nothing worked, not even FM radio. Restarting the car didn't help. It all came back after 2 days without changing anything, but it still was resetting about every other day, losing all presets. The car is at service now for regular maintenance, and they wanted to keep it over the weekend to check it further and send diagnostics data to Germany (so they said). I will update this thread once I get the car back. |
