What's the deal with NYPD Traffic agents?
All the ones I have come across are hard asses with a chip on their shoulder.
Prob. not representative of the entire agents population and I know the miserable salaries don't help but why do they insist on handing out citations in situations when they could just walk away to help someone being polite and respectful to them? Examples: commercial zone parking ticket at 3:58 PM (when parking becomes legal at 4 PM), parking in front of a hydrant with me standing next to the car chatting with a buddy but ready to leave if needed (not good, driver must be in the car/ seat with the engine running). I don't even fight the tickets since I am guilty but I don't understand, I'd let people off in those case... I have even witnessed one moron angle his car to block "an offender" and prevent him from leaving to write him up. |

They need to meet ticket quotas. The department always denies that they impose quotas on their agents, but the number of citations issued increases at the end of the month which is a clear indication that they need to meet their numbers.

**** Preface: Sorry if you are a cop, friend/family of a cop, etc. ***
In my experience, most cops were losers from high school that always had a chip on their shoulder, and make it a point to make other's lives miserable by using their "power" in an offensive way. +1 just easier to pay the fine, rather than be bothered trying to fight a losing battle. |
