Walnut blasting is the only way to fully restore your valve intakes back to new. My man at Rob at Speedlogic and all his customers will contest the same.

That's opposite of shiny because walnut blasting is not porting. It's a light abrasive to fully remove carbon build up.

How often should you do the walnut blasting?

my SA recommended me to do this when I dropped my car off the other week for an oil change. they want $400 for the fuel injection service which he claims will get rid of all that carbon build up. I may do this just so I don't ef things up with over the counter products that claim it'll remove carbon build up
Did you ever get this done? If you did what mileage were you at and what difference did you notice?

I've been a long time member on these forums. Not this one per say. And I've been helped by plenty of other members. Stuck being one of them. I don't know him personally. But I've read through countless posts of his. And gotten personal advise. We're all grown here (I hope). So not to stick (no pun) up for anyone. But it's not cool to bash someone or call them a troll for giving advise. I wouldn't say his comments were arrogant. He's confident in what he does. After all he does this for a living. Day in and day out. So he does know a thing or two. His advise/methods have helped me a lot especially when I first started out. I have much respect for the dude. Especially when he doesn't have to come on here and help.

I just did my OHFG, oil cooler gasket, and intake manifold gaskets. I couldn't help but notice this and so I'm cleaning my valves. Goes to the point earlier in this thread regarding the guy who was saying some additive would clean the valves... no way would an additive do anything to the backside of these valves.

In the video he used a 90 degree pick to scrap the back of the valves. I followed that video and yielded some decent results. It's no walnut blast but not shabby.

I used a rifle cleaning tool on the end of a drill, cans of carb cleaner, a shop vac and an air compressor to kick the gunk up. Good thing Walmart is open 24/7.

Did you notice any difference after you did yours?

How many miles? Those valves are still much less carbon-upped than the N54 at 30K-40K miles.

No difference. You ain't seen nothing until you see a N54. On a N54 it's night and day difference.

Backing down the steep driveway and slamming on the breaks did the trick. Car is running great and I am only missing one screw!

This a quick video of my experience doing a intake valve cleaning. I used CRC Intake valve cleaner, ran me less than $30.00 for 2 bottles.

Ah man, you never said if the new valve cover fixed your rough idle! I like your vids but I must say, I couldn't watch this one entirely due to that constant background loop you had going, it got really loud and distracting... I would kill that and just go with no music, but that is just my opinion!!!

Thanks for the comments. I had a good friend of mine tell me the same thing about the music. I will definitely use is sparingly in the future. Also, checking to see if I can edit the video and remove or reduce the music. I'm still really new to YouTube.

As far as the idle is concerned, it is a lot better but not completely fixed. I'm still looking into that now. I finally got Ista+ downloaded and working yesterday and found my DME has permanent 133E10 code that states my Valvetronics is disabled. I'm researching that now.
