2015 F10 center console removal?
Hi, i have a really annoying 'buzzing' coming from the leather bit of trim you can see in the picture below that runs across the right hand side of the center console. I assume I can only get to it by removing the center console cover?
On older models it appears to be one screw from within the armrest storage area. Can anyone confirm if this is as easy on this model? I'm worried about forcing anything and breaking any clips. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. |

There's a screw under the trim piece around the lock cylinder. The rest just pops-off. Just be slow and deliberate.
There's a how-to here, IIRC. |

Thank you - so sounds similar to the pre 2013 'how to' I saw yesterday.
Will give an update if I manage to do it... Cheers |

Just looking now and I can't even see where that one screw would be?! Any ideas anyone as to how to get to it or where it is?
Thanks |

You need to pop the metal cap off around the button, it's under there

Did it and it was fairly simple. However, I haven't solved the vibration! Annoyingly what I did hasn't worked, so will need to take it off again tonight. I tried to do it (half heartedly) by not removing any of the joining cables underneath. But clearly I need to remove these now and really 'get in there'.

Took it off completely this time by unplugging cables - why was more awkward than I expected.
Still couldn't quite tell what was causing the noise, although is suspect it is one of the metal 'v' clips that slot into plastic holders fro the center console. So sprayed some silicon lubricant in there too, plus tightened a few of the torx screws. If it's quiet tomorrow then I may have sorted it. My disappointment of BMW interior build quality is still with me! |

Update on this - for anyone who experiences a similar sound...
After taking the whole centre console 'out' I managed to find that it was the Z shaped bracket that bolts to the floor that was transferring the vibrations from the car up into the gear lever module. Then it was buzzing... I had to take several layers of parts out to get to it and then you are faced with 4 bolts. Two are plastic and will shear really easy and the other two are locking nuts. I loosened them all and removed the plastic ones (to break the transfer of vibration). This appears to have worked. I am mindful of the Z bracket now not being secured in, but it's properly 'trapped' so can't move anyway. This problem almost made me give the car back as it was a joke and the dealership couldn't hear it... whenever I took it in (typical!) One thing I will say is that I am pleased BMW chose to use mainly T20 screws for everything - makes it simple to take apart! I've attached a diagram to show where the part is (and I think this isn't an F10 LCI centre console, but it's similar), it was part '6' Hope this helps someone somewhere!

Thank you for taking the time to provide an update!
What cig lighter to USB adapter do you have in your cup holder? I wasn't looking for one but now that I saw yours I'm interested!

F10 Center Console Removal
First time user on this, and first time removing trim pieces. I just want to confirm that, after removing the torx screw under the lock cylinder cover I will need to pry up the center console (assuming with a trim removal tool) to remove it. The prying is what makes me nervous. Are there specific points I need to pry up? How many clips are holding this down (2 on each side?) Anything else I need to know?
Here's the story: I recently purchased a 2011 (F10) 535i manual transmission. The Idrive controller sticks when moved to the right and the dealer sent me out a replacement idrive controller. I would also like to swap out the cup holder as the chrome trim is bubbling up. I think both are accessed by removing the center console, and it is my understanding that both are relatively easy to replace once you get the center console trim off. I just don't want to break my newly acquired car in the process. Are there any plastic retaining clips that are likely to break in the removal process that I should proactively order? Thanks! |

Yes you’re right. You simply need to prize it up, slowly but accertively. I removed mine at least 15 times and no clips ever broke. There are about 4 - 6 clips (I think).
