Winter set up help
Hi Guys,
I tried to search for the answer on the forum but couldn’t find it. I have a ‘14 535 xdrive M sport with 19’s 351 non staggered . I came across a great deal of brand new blizzaks 225/40/19. Is this too narrow/ will it adversely affect the handling ? I know the speedometer will be 2.3% slower. I understand this is not ideal since I’m better off going with 245/45/18. I appreciate your input. I live in the NE and do decent amount of highway driving Thank you Last edited by Global-F10; 09-15-2020 at 05:40 PM.. |

The 408M wheels will also fit the non M5 f10.

Yes you can make it work, you probably won’t like the looks.
If you have the square setup then you probably have the 8.5 width rims. When you do the math on 225 tires you find that is only 8.8 wide vs the 245=9.6, the tires will look skinny. |

The stock tires on a 535 (whether 17, 18 or 19's) have a load rating of about 100. The Blizzaks sized 225/40x19 have a load rating of only 93. In other words, intended to a lighter and/or smaller vehicles. If your starting out fresh with dedicated wheels and tires for winter, 17" rims and narrower winter tires would be ideal. They are cheaper (than 19's), function better in deeper snow and are less prone to pot hole damage that is so common in NE winters. You'll also enjoy the comfy ride offered by the 17's and regret changing them for the 19's at winter's end.
