Intake and Weird sound
Those of you with an MST intake, Or possibly any other aftermarket intake.
Was there a noticible and loud whistle noise from 2-3k rpm? I just got done installing my MST intake on '11 535 X drive, I notice while driving in sports mode while somewhat light on the throttle there is a horrible high pitched whistle coming from the intake between around 1800rpm-3200rpm. It is not the sound of the turbo, The best way to discribe it. Is the sound of a 1997 honda accord alternator belt slipping after starting up. Ill see if i can nab a video of it tomorrow for better clarification. Ive re-checked all clamps included with the kit to make sure they are TIGHT and its still there |

Video link of the noise, You can hear it pretty well at the start of the video, And then again twords the end it starts, Stops quick, Then starts again The video makes it sound alot deeper than what it actually is. hearing it from the video makes me think its a normal part of this intake, just looking to confirm its nothing bad i guess from other owners I have quadruple checked that all worm clamps are tight so the chance of it being a leak somewhere is pretty slim |

Well yes and no, It definitely is an amazing sound outside the annoying whistle sound, Im thinking its just part of the design of the intake tho |

ended up just going back to stock, And the noise is gone, So its deffinitly just from a more free flowing intake, Sucks that the MST is such a nice sounding intake and having this noise just kills it for me, Ill be swapping out the stock inlet to see if that is the cause of the noise. If all else fails either ill be sticking to stock or trading out for a BMS
