Driveshaft Type Confusion

I was looking up the part numbers for the flex disc/guibo and the center support bearing on the driveshaft, but came across two different driveshaft configurations/part numbers for the 535i RWD on RealOEM. There is one part 26108693395 which has a metal front coupling and a direct connection to the differential at the rear (insert nut). The other part is 26107614688 which as the rubber coupling on both the front and the rear (hardy coupling/internal nut).

I didn't know there are two different driveshaft configurations for the 535i. My 2014 535i 8AT with 2TB has 26108693395. When I was thinking about replacing the rear flex disc, my indy said mine doesn't have the guibo on the rear which surprised me. FCPEuro also lists both part numbers for the 535i so I was confused what the functional difference is between the two, and why there would be two different equivalent setups.

Thoughts?

I don’t have much info, but I do know my car only has the front one. And from the factory it was the metal type that has been discontinued. I know I’ve heard of people saying they have a rear one too.. Not sure why some do and some don’t.

Good to know. I hadn't seen any discussions about not having a rear flex disc on the F10s so good to get another data point other than my own car.

Read ALL of the supplemental columns. They contain information that you may have overlooked. One part nbr was used on both the manual tranny & auto tranny. The other part nbr was only used on the auto tranny. Both part nbrs are used for specific build date ranges, too.

And also CLICK on the part numbers to see if there are other part nbrs that it supersedes or are retroactively exchangeable etc. You will also get other info like if other models use the same part and I believe I saw length, too.
