Brakes

Evening I have a 2012 528i xdrive. My front brake pads are wearing out. I just want to get pads but I'm told that you don't change just pads. You change pads and rotors on BMW's. Is this true?

I think dealer will change both pads and rotor if the car is under warranty. Out of warranty, you can do what you want.

Ok thanks... have you replaced your pads before? How much did it cost you? I was quoted $850 for front pads, rotors and sensor.

Sound about right from dealer. I DIYed my rear ones. You can have an Indy to do the pads only.

Does the sensor have to be replaced when the pads are replaced?

If your dash board light is triggered, the sensor is shot. I will suggest to replace it since the aftermarket sensor is not expensive.
