Angel eyes question
hi
posting this for my friend , since hes so confused about this. hes got 2011 528i , and he dont have HID or bi xenon headlights from the factory (now he does after installin a HID kit) but he is confused about angel eyes , they dont light up when you turn on headlights , they only work when you switch the knob once. so my question is , can they be programmed to be on while driving , or since its not bixenon(regular halogen) lights its not gonna work anyways? thanks in advance |

could it be because hes lights came halogen from factory ? and i would think that only the ones with xenon would have those angel lights on when driving but ill double check myself , when i get to his car and maybe snap a pic. |

If the car originally came with halogens then the angel eyes are very dim compared to the angel eyes of the xenons. It's a hardware difference so coding won't solve it. Even if u replace the main headlights with HID, the angel eyes will remain the dim angel eyes. Only xenons have the blindingly white angels. Hope this answers your question.

To add further, my car has the xenon headlight from factory so I'll explain when they are on. In idrive light settings..if you tick the daytime running lights option. Then ur angel eyes will be on when the knob is in the middle position(meaning 12 o clock position) or automatic position (10 o clock position.) if the headlights are on then the angel eyes dim a bit, but with coding you can bring them to full brightness. Again, all this only applies to cars with xenons from factory.

so i dont think coding will help him , but i will let him know. and unfotunately he doesnt have any option for it angel lights in idrive. looks like its because he doesnt have HID/Xenon headlights from factory but halogen. thats what i was telling him (i kinda know about this cuz i had e39 and e60 bimmers) so there is no really a way to have them coded to be on with his current hid kit he installed. it all comes down to headlights themselves. thank you guys. |

Sorry, I misunderstood, I assumed he installed factory HID/Xenon lights, not an aftermarket HID kit inside his basic headlights.
