Carbon Fiber Intake Development F10 550i
Hey guys!
I had a friend who wanted a set of intakes for his car so i was going to see if there would be interest in having more than 1 set made. I have a 3d scanner so these will fit like a glove, i plan on having the filter inside the kidney grills. The MAF location diameter would be the same but i would be enlarging the rest of the setup to reduce pumping losses for the turbo. Here are some pics of what i have. I was looking at making these in carbon fiber, to make it economical they would probably be around $1500 a set. Just throwing ideas around to see if the community would be interested while i'm doing this for him. His set will be in 3d printed plastic but i'm sure he'd love to have a set in carbon as well. -Carbon fiber intakes -Reduced pumping loss for power gains -OEM fitment -No MAF errors -Reversible installation Thanks Last edited by Sales@RKautowerks; 05-30-2016 at 10:50 AM.. |

for those still hanging around i got the M5 intakes today, here's a picture. I'll get more this weekend as we install them. I've also attached a video when we were doing durability testing.

They definitely have similarities with MSR. The real question is there any substantial proof that they PRODUCE (hence I didnt use the word MAKE) more power than MSR intakes, or any intake that's currently on the market for that matter?
Everything that has been brought up in these threads are theoretical. Numbers should do the talking. |

But even then i find dyno numbers kind of funny, guys put cars on a chassis dyno and then compare numbers without quantifying where benefits came from. I run a multimillion dollar dyno cell and you'd be surprised what a few degrees of ignition, coolant temp, or atmospheric conditions will do. Show me a dyno pull with IG, backpressure, manifold pressure, coolant temp in/out, cam phasing, fixed mapping, and i'll listen to you talk numbers. It's easy to produce big numbers, it's hard to quantify where there's numbers came from. Very few of us on here actually have the knowledge to do that. -R PS: i've already verified the rapid prototypes produce power. Just need to go back to the dyno sometime this week. I'll get you everything and log everything as well. |

That is the end state. I personally don't look at dyno's. They're falsifiable and every application is different, especially for intakes. There is no real way to generate the elements that real road driving implicates. 1/4 times is the money maker especially if you can directly compare them with stock times/competing product times. |

Dallas M5, great work. I'm new to this car, but not new to product development.
Seems you have it commercially ready so are you officially selling them or marketing them? When will you release "HP numbers"? I think for the most part, I'm interested in the sound and visceral experience vs. pure power as I am never going to tune my car to that level... at least not this one!! |

Is this still being made? Judging by the pics of the M5 set up, it looks like a well made intake.
