HPFP install - remove intake manifold?

Anyone done their own hpfp replacement/install?

I'd like to know whether we (xdrive f10 n55s, with the non-continental style hpfp) need to remove the intake manifold or can sneak around it once the CP is off. Only answer I've gotten so far is "maybe." Even if you can sneak around it, I'm not sure if it's such a pain you'd rather just take off the manifold....

An F30, but I think this is my answer:

He unbolts the manifold enough to tilt it out of the way but doesn't completely disconnect every single cable/clip to pull it out of the car. Not a bad compromise.

Its easier to take off the manifold. More space to move around, but yeah, takes a bit more time.

I would say remove it and use it as an opportunity to refresh the seals for the manifold and throttle body. The seals are cheap at FCP.
Plus it will allow you to inspect your carbon build up.

Remember to disconnect the battery as you'll need to remove the harnesses from the ecu.

And

But there's a kit that includes both manifold and TB seals.

Torque spec is, I think 14 ft lbs and if you stripped from over tightening like me replace your stud

Thanks, I'll probably do those too.

Which stud is that? Is it the one that's right against the hpfp?

That goes into the block to allow the manifold to bolt to the block. Not a necessary bolt unless you over torque the manifold nut.

Actually thats the wrong link. Sorry. That's the exhaust manifold block bolt.

Seals are on the way. Google tells me torque is 11. Thanks for the good advice on both fronts.

When you reattached your high pressure fuel line, did you torque that to whatever spec or just tighten it up nice n good

Remember to lightly oil up the seals when installing. The purpose of that is to avoid and snagging or tearing during install. I just lightly sprayed mine with WD40 and then installed.

Luckily the spool fx150 comes with wiring adapter.

In case anyone wanted to know, install went without any big surprises.

Def needed to take off the intake manifold to have enough room to work.

Compared to the f30 videos I watched, my f10 low pressure line connects in the engine bay so it was nice not to have to jack up the car and go underneath for the low pressure line connection.

The spool fx150 comes with a flexible high pressure line not a metal line like stock. This pic is from another kind soul that showed me how to connect it bc the spool line is twice as long as it needs to be so you can't just snake it up the same path as the stock high pressure line.
