Exclamation Hydrolocked victim 550i or new engine

I have 2014 550i . A month ago I went into a puddle of water and engine Hydrolocked , so the mechanic changed the spark plugs , air filters , intake cleaning etc , now the engine is running without any knocking noise . But my worry is is there a possibility the piston bent or rod bearing might have happened. I asked my mechanic to take compression test to make sure . But is it worth to keep the car for long time since it’s a water victim .? Or swapping a new engine might solve the problem once in for all ? Even though n63tu is not much reliable but I love my car still at the same time I don’t want a ticking time bomb even though I have extended warranty… kindly help me with ur experts advice …

The path to take would depend on a compression and a leak down test to me. Plus logs to make sure the engine is running how it should. If all looks good I wouldn't bother replacing it.

Also, if you have extended warranty they would also base their coverage on those tests anyway- unless you were going to pay for a new engine out of pocket. That would be totally up to you, but if it were me, I'd keep my money if the tests are passed. Hope that helps
