Hello guys, i have a f11 525 xd; I changed the oil trasmission and it was all ok. after some weeks I did a reset to the trasmission and drive well. after a week, at cold start it has a rough downshift 3>2 when i'm going to stop. after 5 minutes of driving it goes all ok with the shifts. If i reset again it goes well for a week and later the same problem again....i cant explein why. Plz help me!

I believe you have high milage car, if so you shouldn't change transmission oil nor doing adaptation reset
uneven wear to transmission clutches prevents the ECU from doing a proper adaptation so don't do it to an aging transmission
if the transmission milage goes past 100,000 don't change oil, if you have to, then don't ever reset adaptations

I personally don’t believe in not changing the fluid just because it’s passed a certain mileage. I changed mine for the first time at 105,000 miles on my 535i. I now have 172,000 and haven’t had issues. I plan on doing it again soon because I’d the mileage I’ve put on it.

I believe the fluid change is worth doing. Just be sure to have it done by someone that knows how to do it. Or if you do it yourself, follow the guide in ISTA and make sure the get the temp to the right level and run through the correct gears before topping it off. It may fix the issue, or at least lessen it.

Something else to consider is that it may have issues with the internal solenoids. I know the older 6 speed was known for this and it was an esy fix. I haven’t seen anything about swapping them in the 8 speed though. Should a similar process though if the parts are available.
