[2011bmw535ixdrive]

So I picked up some BMW M4 M437 Wheels yesterday and put them on my 2011 BMW 535i XDrive and now the tps does not work and also the effective dynamic light comes on . I didn't realize your not recommended to put on diffrent size wheels or tires on a all wheel drive. So here I am with these new wheels that I LOVE and want to keep if possible without taking a real risk of damaging the car ! ( Note I rarely floor my baby ) I drive pretty slow and smooth. So the back has some 275/35/19 Tires and front 255/35/19 Tires. The stock tires were 245/45/18 .

If there a way I can keep these wheels on ? The tires it came with are almost worn so I have to get some new tires soon anyways and wanted to see if I can maybe make it work with different tire sizes?

If you have been in a similar situation and can advise I would really appreciate it.

Take it to a good tire shop so they can reprogram the TPMS monitors, BMW's can run a stagger on xDrive cars it just can't be huge. Your sizes shouldn't be n issue. I have a 2011 535i xDrive with the same size factory wheels, but I have 666m (M3 competition) wheels replica in 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 with no issues whatsoever.

They can run staggered widths, not sizes, ie: they have to be 19" all the way around, which you have, so you should be fine.

Like ^ he said, it's more than likely your tpms.

Im currently researching the same for my xdrive. From what I have read in the forums, your current tire sizes have too big of a difference overall diameters. I think it is supposed to be 245/40/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rear to have similar rolling diameters to avoid issues.

For the tpms have you tried resetting thru Idrive? If it still did not work maybe go to a tire shop and have them checked.

Thank you for your response man! As far as programming them do I have to go to a BMW dealer for this . Or any tire shop?

You will likely need to transfer your TPMS over or purchase new TPMS. BMW changes the TPMS every couple of years to a newer model that is not backwards compatible.

I'm about to pickup a set of 437m with the factory mpss as well.
Ran the tire comparison and came up with the flowing.

I can't remeber if it's meant to be within 1% or 3% as the threshold on an xDrive.
If it's 3% we are still OK. If it's 1%, it's just a matter of getting the right tire sizes.
The wheels themselves have a pretty awesome fit and are pretty flush.

Anyone have thoughts on these numbers?

My stocks are 245/40/19 square for comparison purposes.
Stock mpss are 255/35/19 and 275/35/19.

Your proposed rear tires (275/35/19) are fine, and work on an xDrive in conjunction with 245/40/19 front tires. This is what I am running on my staggered xDrive setup. The sidewall of your proposed M4 tires (255/35/19) is too narrow for an F10. Therefore, you need to change the front tires on your M4 wheels to be the same size as your stock tires if you want the rear M4 tires to work. If your M4 front wheels are wider than 8.5", then you might have to consider widening your front tires to 255mm (255/40/19), and widening your rear tires to 285mm (285/35/19).

I remember reading somewhere in these fourms that x drive cars can run Staggered in width BUT the diameter difference has to be within 1% of each other. Any more and the car acts funny.

Logically it makes sense. If the front wheels are spinning a bit faster than your rear wheels that could confuse the computer sending power to each wheel.

Thanks. I forgot to mention the 1% rule, but assumed it in my calculations for OP. In fact, xDrives are so finicky that I've read here and elsewhere that BMW won't replace just one tire if you happen to damage one and if the difference in tread depth between the new replacement and the other tires that are worn is too much. Even on the same axle, with the same tire sizes.

So far, I've not had an issue with my staggered setup, and Euro-spec F10 xDrives had been available with OEM staggered setup for a while there. I think they eventually came to North America too, with the same specifications I mentioned previously, which is exactly the setup I have.

My X5 had 20x10 and 20x11 factory setup on xdrive. It's perfectly fine to run this kind of staggered.

I recently installed staggered wheels for my xdrive after some reseaching the forums. I made sure the tires I got have identical diameters from info from the tire manufacturer and tire rack. Both overall diameters at 27.8".

The wheels are OEM style 311's. 21x8.5 et25 fronts and 21x10 et41 rears with 245/35/21 and 285/30/21 MPSS tires.

What did you wind up doing? For those looking for information please post the resolution results.
I am installing 437M wheels on my 2011 535i X drive and have already purchased the wheels and tires. I am putting 285/35-19 on the rear and I have 245/40-19 for the front. However, the front 437M wheel is 9" wide compared to the stock wheel of 8.5" wide. I am afraid the tire will look stretched and I absolutely hate that look.
I am thinking I might need to go with 255/40-19 in order to avoid the "stretched" look. I am concerned about the 255/40-19 rubbing though. Any information is appreciated.

You can run whatever size tires you want as long as the diameter difference front to rear is less than 1%. Width, wheel size, none of that matters. The only thing the car's systems care about is diameter.

There's a PILE of misinformation in this thread. The OP's setup didn't work because their front tires were much smaller in diameter than their rears. That's it, that's all.
