I still have not used mine because of crappy weather, and crazy work schedule. Did you clean the area with rubbing alcohol per the instructions? Do you have any pictures of before and after, and how did you apply the product?

Did not take before pictures, but, mine was just like the OP before pictures. Yes, I did clean the damaged area with an alcohol swab before applying the die. When the die is applied it appears to be too dark. However, dries perfectly to match the original "Oyster" color. Very difficult to tell the repaired area from the original.

As someone already pointed out, Post #4 on this thread provides you a link to this product. I have used this product in the exact same place that shows wear on your car (as shown on another post of yours) and it works and matches perfectly. The damage completely disappears.

Great job, OP. Yep, that area gets used a lot - seen quite a few similar photos on Oyster Dakota interiors. My Nappa hold nicely in that particular area - probably since it's smoother, hence less friction... My M steering wheel however needs similar treatment....

Retrieve the last 7 digits of your VIN...then go to the linked VIN decoder site below and enter it. The interior's upholstery color code will be listed near the bottom of the top section: https://www.mdecoder.com/
For example...this is what is given for my current BMWs: ("leder" means leather & schwarz mean "black" in German)

That eBay leather dye works wonders, I just did it to my car and really happy with the results!

Has anyone tried the black leather version of the touch-up kit:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-BLACK-L...oAAOSwEetV7uXh The leather code N6SW seems to be BMW Montana Black leather but does it work well with the Black Dakota leather that we have on the F10? The seller also has a 'Dull MONTANA BLACK' kit. Any thoughts? Also, would this work on our steering wheels which seem to be nappa leather?

Montana leather was used during the e38/e39 era (1995-2003). At that time, Montana leather was the standard (1st tier) grade of leather offered. The upgrade leather options (at that time) to Montana....would have been Nappa ("Heritage" or "Soft"), & WalkNappa grades of leather. Then there was also the BMW Individual fabric & leather offerings, too.

Yeah, unfortunately, the touch-up kit doesn't have one for Dakota leather LCLZ. I guess I'll be the guinea pig to see how Montana black works on Dakota. Seems like people have had good results with this touch-up kit.

But one more thing...Montana leather was was a bit higher grade than Dakota & Nevada leathers which were used on entry level sedan models (1-4 series)...and base X models. I would rate Montana leather about in the same category as the current Vernasca leather. Dakota has a topical/visual "grain" that is artificially added (and usually wears better over time)...whereas Montana leather didn't go through that artificial graining process.

Hi chaps. I bough the touch up pen referenced here. The Dakota Oyster colour.
But the colour of my arm rests (door side) is brighter than the colour of the upholstery. It’s more cream rather than beige. Does anyone have that? |
