Bird poo is VERY toxic to automotive paint. I learned this years ago when my wife let the stuff sit on the paint for a couple (maybe more; I was at sea) weeks and it left an ugly discoloured area. That said you can try buffing it out but you may end up having to replace the pieces.

Because of the matte finish on those B pillars, I'd think twice before hitting them with a machine and compound/polish.

Personally I'd be very inclined to try chemical or non-abrasive means before resorting to abrasives, lest you change the appearance of the finish permanently.

You could try clay or synthetic clay mitts, some APC (with a water rinse) on microfiber, a non-abrasive pre-wax "cleaner" (something like the old Zymol HD Cleanse or P21S paintwork cleanser come to mind) and such.

I haven't faced this particular challenge, but I had decided to machine polish/compound the matte B pillars on my E39 to remove oxidation and ended up with "semi-gloss". In my situation, I expected this, but that may not be what you're after.

I think it'll be fine with a machine polish. Those pieces are solid plastic, nothing but more black plastic underneath.

Oh - plastic? I'm thinking of past BMWs where it's metal so maybe it's not a big deal.

For clarity - I was not cautioning against going through the finish, but changing it to something more glossy than it originally was.

All that being said, if it's truly plastic, with colour all the way through, I'd definitely use APC or degreaser and a microfiber cloth or fine brush first.

Good point, I would bet it would make shinier. Just do the other side too so they match

If none of the above works, how about just wrapping them in some vinyl wrap? Matte finish if you want to keep the same look or get gloss black to look more like msport pillars. Materials for this should be ~$10.

You just need to figure out what yours is.
My guess is the first one, the rest are gloss black

If you try to rub or polish it will get glossy.

Bought a new piller cover, once I figured out how it came off, no problem!
