In fairness, a lot of newer, hi-tech & expensive cars can be a nightmare out of warranty. I'm not excusing or disputing anything re Porsche, however they are far from the only company in that situation.

I can't speak for the model S as I've only test driven it a few times and had it as loaners. However I've had 3 model 3s. The original one that came out around 2017, the refreshed one from 2020 and the latest Highland update. Interior wise I feel they have gotten better and better with each version. This latest one IMO feels much tighter than the previous ones. The ride is much much better than the previous gen. They still have minor QC issues on the exterior like slightly uneven panel gaps, paint blemishes etc. On this latest one I had 2 paint imperfection issues and a pretty bad hood alignment. They honestly didn't bother me very much, especially since it's a lease, but I did finally after almost a year take it to the service center and they fixed all the issues. |

How's the bushings on those? The GF's Model Y perf's bushings disintegrated at only 12k miles and that's not with hard driving. We put sphericals in, but it still does not handle well. The regen is so aggressive it's hard to carry any speed in the corner, and even then it's akward and darty. Does not inspire confidence... This is why I'm gunshy about a Plaid S. I'd just throw all the unplugged suspension crap on it and CCBs, but it still might not be a good drive

I did have a plaid model X loaner recently... and honestly... it drove like shit compared to my new 3. I'm not talking about handling or anything like that, obviously it's much larger and will be worse, but just the ride quality and overall feel of it. Even with it's air suspension my 3 felt way better. To be fair, it was a loaner and it had like 50k miles on it compared to my new model 3 with less than 8k miles. I also have the standard aero wheels on mine because I wanted the best ride possible. As for regen you use to be able to turn it off and/or set how aggressive it was but they removed that option. I do believe you can still do it with 3rd party options like the S3XY buttons, but I have not messed with it, I'm use to the regen and I like it the way it is. It's a get from point a to point b as quickly and comfortably as possible with the least stress vehicle for me. |

Anyways I get about 330 stated miles on a full charge. The furthest we typically go is like 100ish miles each way or about a 2 hour drive each way. No issues with my current model 3 doing that drive and still getting home with some range to spare. It's 90% highway doing anywhere from like 65-85 depending on traffic. I do have a 50amp 220v outlet at home to charge it so even if we had to do that drive 2 days in a row, which never really happens, it wouldn't be an issue as it will be back to a full charge overnight. My typical day to day normal driving it will last me a week or more, but we don't drive that much since we work from home and most of the places we go are nearby. If you can't charge at home then forget it honestly. Not worth the hassle, at least for me, if I had to be going to superchargers all the time. One of my favorite things is never having to go fill it up. Often I'll just take the Tesla, even though I feel like driving the Lexus, just because I know the Lexus doesn't have enough gas for my trip and I don't feel like putting gas. |
