The Sky Sports panel have maybe helped FIA a little in deciding that the Race Directors job is too big for one person (Masi) and instead of asking him to go FIA should appoint someone else to back him up. Ben Sulayem having just started should not over react at the prospect of firing Masi and rather than being seen to be doing something in the eyes those that want drastic action taken a better course can be taken and I've said before that Balestre had no problem being Race Director and President at the same time.

If too much information is being feed into Race Control, having two or more Race Directors, will delay even more the decisions/actions from RC, the RDs will need to consult. Masi had to make quick decisions based on gut and the agreement as to the purpose of the event. The event is a race, as stated by Masi and the teams, the teams agreed that as possible, the drivers should be racing.

Being a marshal at many US GPs and a few Canadian ones, we are repeatedly instructed to be careful showing Yellow flags, since it impacts the green racing laps. Our job along with Race Control, Intervention Marshals, and Response Teams are to provide as many Green racing laps as possible (same goes for club racing).

I hate the term Race Director, sounds like they are controlling the race,
the race and the drivers should control the race, the RD can only react (which Masi has done) to the race situation.

On the contrary it would speed up the coming decisions for the right of the drivers and I would suggest continuing with Masi as RD and a sub Race Director as an advisor, something like a Captain and a First Officer in an airliner to make quick correct decisions.
