DIY-Rear fog light modification
Hello everyone!
I got the brand new F10 but I am kind of sick with no rear fog light in my car. I believe most of European cars are equipped rear fog lights. BMW does that, too. However, for the US market, Most of them delete rear fog light for some reasons. Even though the rear fog light is pre-installed already. So, for the current F10 in the US, the light control panel should look like this I did so many researches on the internet globally and finally I found this used part from UK. Then I got it today and swapped the original one. After the easy modification, the control panel looks like this. On the dashboard, when I turn on the rear fog light, it will show the indicator that I never see before, which is the rear fog light And, you can definitely see the "light" on the back! I think this is a easy modification cause it is not programming required, just plug and play! Hope this is helpful for everyone! |

Great DIY. Thanks for posting it.
Are you saying that everything was pre-installed (less the switch), including even the bulbs?

The part number is "61319192744". Again, this is NOT the part for the US market so it is not possible be found in the dealer's computer. Yes! everything is pre-installed but just the switch! |

Rear fog light modification
Thanks fhinfo the the great write-up. I'm definitely doing the mod to my F10.
I took the part number down to my local BMW dealer today. The switch runs 68 Euro before VAT, new straight from BMW. I thought the switch would be a lot more expensive. He looked it up in the computer and it's definitely the right switch. Mine should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday next week. I'd head up a group buy, but I'm leaving to return to the US at the end of this month. I may bring a couple back with me. I haven't decided and if I do, I'll just post them in the "For Sale" at my cost. Sean |

On Audis one can program the rear foglight to light up along with the brake lights when you brake (as an additional brakelight). This should be possible to program on the F10/F11 as well?

Interesting. I always thought the rear fog light was only supposed to be on the driver side? I've always seen them like that in Europe and from a few Euro cars here in the US...

Just ordered the switch from ECS tuning. They'll have it by the 23rd & then ship out. Seems like a nice & easy mod.

Thank you fhinfo for the video
It certainly makes it a lot easier to do the DIY. BTW your English is pretty good as I had no problem in understanding your demo. |

Great DIY video - my switch is on backorder from ECS like a few others here as well…thanks for the tip!
I noticed the switch you put in had the Euro headlight dipping dial on it - no errors or issues with that on a US spec car? |
