Can't tell for sure from your pictures what color interior you have. Budd's had a demo with beige interior but I ordered mine with black partly because I didn't want beige carpet. They all look good.

I just bought a Space Grey 550i, traded in my black ISF. Love black, loathe the extra washing or when it looked bad and I couldn't get to it quick enough. At first I wasn't wild about the color, now I think it looks great, stays cleaner looking longer and now that I've had it for a month, I wouldn't want a different color. My 2cents. I'm sure you won't reget it either way.

BobRBob, mine is Cinnamon brown inside. A great combo I think. I'd post a photo, but cinnamon brown never looks good in the photos, it just doesn't photograph well.

I had the same dilemma, worried about the blueness of CB and nearly changed my order to SG. So glad I didn't CB is an awesome colour you won't regret it. And it looks more black than blue, don't worry just go with you first choice and don't panic

I vote for Space Grey...
I had exactly the same dilemna, Carbon Black or Space Grey. I'd seen a Carbon Black M Sport in the showroom and it was stunning. It was the car that convinced me to buy a 5er M Sport. I hadnt seen a Space Grey in the flesh but thought how classy they looked in the brochure. My head ruled my heart and I chose Space Grey down to the amount of time I had just spent keeping a black A4 half tidy looking. I took delivery of my 520d M Sport at the end of last month and had spent the past two months convincing myself that I'd made the wrong choice and should have gone Carbon Black. I was thinking that I'd be stuck with a 3 year lease on a car whose colour I was indifferent about at best... The day it arrived... Well, I was amazed. The doubt disappeared as soon as I saw it. As others say, the body lines stand out so well. The contrast with the dark intakes / grill / black window surrounds / dark rear valance is just so right. The body colour is similiar enough, but also different enough, to bring the wheels into the picture (you know how some colours can make big wheels look a bit lost or out of place?). I've always had dark cars, Black, Dark Grey, Dark Blue. As everyone says they look stunning clean, they look bad for a bit and funnily enough if you get them properly "distressed" they kinda look cool again! My wife has a silver Merc and yeah it's easy to keep clean but its dull dull dull... At the end of the day, I think you would be more than happy with either colour. It's a great dilemna to have. And dont forget, you cant see the colour when you're enjoying the best view of the car, the one from the drivers seat! |

I used to have jet black on my 335. While it was nice when it was new and clean, it was a pain to keep the swirls away. Non metallic paint also tends to be softer, so at 30k miles, my 335 looked like it was sandblasted. You can't see it from far, but up close, from like 2 feet, it was very annoying. My next car was a black sapphire 535. This was metallic pain so I noticed that it didn't chip easier and didn't swirl as much. My current car is a space gray 528. I'm determined to not get black again. There is only so much you can do to clean to car, but paint defects tend to show up a lot easier.

Well, coming from possibly the most anal-retentive, OCD person in the southern US-(or at least Texas)-Space Gray is the obviously choice. I've had black, and it aged me in dog years... I wash my cars frequently-and use all of the finest products, but getting black again would quite simply put me 6' under... Again, this comes from a door jamb waxing, under carriage cleaning--freak... I'm just sayin... I've gone black, but will never go back...

I have sophist grey and think the lighter shade of grey highlights the contours of the m aero kit better than a darker car....
So my vote is for the space grey |

Is it as easy to keep looking good as a "normal" silver car?

Sharbotcom,
I also has an '08 335i (convertible) in Platinum Bronze with beige interior. I loved that colour (and car). The Cashmere is close, but not quite as nice. I would have loved my F10 in Platinum Bronze. Last edited by AVIMAX; 05-18-2011 at 01:26 PM.. |

Space Grey - simply because you're in the UK (like me).
I was going to go for one of the black variants, but a colleague pointed out all the drawbacks of black re. cleanliness, scratches, etc. If you live in sunny climes and have the time and inclination to wash the car frequently, then black is a great choice. If you live in a largely dull climate (ie. Blighty) then anything other than black is the sensible buyers choice, IMHO. I went for Sophisto Grey BTW - very happy with this, but I agree with other posters that Space Grey is an excellent choice to show the lines of the car, esp. in M Sport guise. You also have the advantage that the diffuser styling on the rear contrasts well with the Space Grey. Cheers... |

Colour is a personal thing - I considered space grey, titanium silver, black and sophisto grey. Eventually went for sophisto grey - no regrets. Yes, you have to keep it clean. I keep it in underground garages most of the time so I have to wash it pretty much once per week to keep it in top condition. It's true that lighter colours show the contours of an F10, but both space grey and titanium silver are... to impersonal in my book.

Black.
But as said before, you'd have to keep the car clean. I'm feeling Titanium as well for the F10, but only in combination with M-pack.

Guys - Thanks for all the helpful posts and photos.
My current car is black and I get it professionally washed once a week as part of my work - so the cleaning aspect is not so much of a problem. The real issue is what brings out the best lines of the car - particularly the m-sport body kit. When I first saw an m-sport at the dealer it was in black and looked great. Now they no longer have a black one on site but do have a couple of stunning space grey. Still undecided so I think I'm going to have see a couple back to back to make up my mind. I have until June to change my mind according to the dealer. The other potential issue is there is apparently a world shortage of metallic paint due to the problems in Japan - but dealer couldnt confirm if this had affected BMW yet! Anyone know more about this? |
