F10 xdrive square or staggered.

I'm looking to purchase a set of 343m wheels and wondering how many run square vs staggered and why. I think 343m wheels only come in 20x10 and 20x9 so can I run 255 35 all around. I like having square set up because I can rotate the tires but who doesn't like the look of 285 tires on the rear. Is there any benefit on an xdrive car with 255/285 ? Or 255 all around is the best traction I'll get anyways. Can someone give me insight on a good xdrive set up would be. Im also lowered on ACS.

Garage List
I just ordered a 20x8.5 square setup for my 2011 535xi. I love the look of them and thought about going with a staggered setup, but played it safe instead. My hesitation came from the few stories about a staggered setup wrecking havoc on the diff in the xDrive models. I don't think it's a guarantee that something bad will happen (I believe European xDrive models come with staggered 19s), but, like I said, I just decided to play it safe.

Thanks, that's how I feel about it all. I'm a little hesitant but I've seen plenty of folks run within that 1% difference and never had problems and then u hear the stories.

What size tires u ended up going with?

I went with 245/35/20 BFGoodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S. I like them so far (minus the balancing issue's I'm having) and that it's only been about a weekish.

Anyone know if it's bad to run 255/285? I've only seen 255 /295.

I just ordered a set of staggered 20 inch Vorsteiner ff103 with 255/35/20 fronts and 285/30/20 rears. Should have them next week.

19" M Sport set up

I currently have the OEM 351M 19" staggered Goodyear summer tires on my 2014 535i X Drive M sport. As soon as fall approaches I am going to change them out for some Michelin High Performance all season non run flat tires. From what I have read this should work with my stock suspension.
F 245/45R19 R 275/40R19 vs my OEM 245/40 and 275/35

The overall diameter will be 27.7 for the front and rear and it will give you a little more tire to protect your wheels and a better ride. Some forum member have used the 245/45R19 as a square set up and have reported how good the cars drives and handles bumps in the road. I have not heard any one going with the 274/40R19 in the rear yet.
They way i look at it, it will give you more wheel protection, give you a smoother ride and fill the fender well out better than factory. This seems a better alternative than lowering the car .5" - 1" but will have the same look. Your thoughts???

No issues with those oversized tires.

245/45-19 and 275/40-19 also have the exact same diameter, great for xDrive!

How much does the 45 vs the 40 aspect ratio help in the -3MPH? Does it go to 0 or on the + side?

Taller Tires

Thanks for the reply .BMW. thats good to know the taller tires work well. Do they look as good? Did you do it to close up the gap or for better ride? What tires are you running? I also I added 12mm H&R spacers in the rear. Looks good and factory however I am hoping this will not effect the taller tire when I get them.

I just looked up the MPH difference and it looks like if you go the taller tire set up at 27.7 diameter, you speedo will register that you are going 60mph however your actual speed will be 62.5. I can live with that.

The 45-profile tire is 3.5% taller than OEM.

I would say that the speedo show about 3% higher than actual speed from factory.

Will be very close to perfect with the taller tire sizes.

Hey folks, quick question for those running the 245/45/19 setup. Did you use stock tire pressures listed on the door or adjust for the different tires?
