From 550i to M5 :D
Traded in my 2011 550i for a 2013 M5, pretty loaded.
I loved my 550i, amazing power, comfort, luxury. But man the M5 is more raw power, handling, and same luxury. I love it so far.

I'm actually thinking about trading in my alpine white 2013 M5 loaded for the new 2018 M550i loaded up. My only concern is that it won't feel enough like a true M car in handling. Straight line is faster than the F10 M5 we all know now so the question is will the suspension with all the options like dynamic handling package feel too "soft" and wishy washy compared to a true M car? Dealers not getting any in until May or June and I'm hoping somebody gets one with Dynamic handling so I can compare to my F10 M5 and see if it stacks up or not. If its better I will swap out and if not then maybe wait for the new M5 and see how that one shapes up. I like all the new tech and luxury features available in the new M550i when compared to my '13 M5 |

Ya know, regarding handling, I really do wonder if I'd be happier with DHP for handling vs. the 704 suspension. The reason? The 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT I traded in for this car had a Sports/Touring setting for the suspension. In the last of the 18 years I owed that car, it developed a steering rack leak to the point that I could not add enough power steering fluid that would last long enough before it leaked out to really enjoy the touring mode anymore, so I drove it in Sport mode all the time. Fast forward, this MSport is sneaky. It can sometimes feel a little too cushy, but when you need to 'move' the car in another direction, it can surprise you. Sometimes I do wish I a had button to press to help smooth out these winter/salt rotted streets here in the winter time, but w/o that, this suspension totally transforms, all on its own when going from city to highway roads. As far as I can tell, you can't go wrong either way. I think as long as you have DHP or 704 suspension, you are good to go. Beautiful car!! |
