Looking for 2012-2014 550i xDrive
I have recently test drove the 535 xDrive but I keep going back to the V8 performance since I recently had a 2008 550i I prefer the V8.
I noticed a few posts about staying away from the N63 but dont really understand what the issues are but I understand enough tha from what I read big problems and big money to fix. I just want to make sure that I should stay from the N63 and looking for at least a 2014 or am I better off with the 535? Thanks in advances. |

Performance vs reliability. it's hard to have both. I personally went with performance when I was in the market for the F10, and ended up buying an xDrive 550i. I know if I went with the 535, I would have always been itching for the 550i. No regrets here, the car definitely performs, nothing more fun than V8-TT. It's the closest to an M5 which cost significantly more.

Thanks for the link. I did not realize there were that many issues with the N63. Im disappointed because they seem to be more in the price range or at least at the high range of what I want to spend.
I guess I will keep looking for a 2014 and higher so just go back to a E60 V8. |

Depends on your budget. You could get a '13 M5

I definitely do enjoy my N63tu. Incredibly smooth power delivery and seemingly never ending torque. Amazingly efficient for what it is. Mine has about 37k miles on it and nothing but regular oil changes so far. Not saying these are as bullet proof as the N55 (had one of those too and it was excellent), but they're a true joy to drive and from reports and my so far limited experience they're not super fragile like the older ones were.
