Buying Advice: 2012 550i xdrive with DHP and Dinan Sg3

Hello there!

Just sold my E92 and in the market for a F10.

Found a local 2012 550i xdrive with 60k miles

Fully loaded:
Adaptive cruise
Driver Assist
DHP with DDC and ARS
Premium, Nav, cold weather, etc. The works!

It also has already on it a dinan stage 3 tune and exhaust installed

Carfax is clean and shows timing belt and water pump already replaced by BMW around 50k miles which I think is actually a good sign?

Price is $21k

Good deal or stay away?

Do not buy 2011-2013 550 as they have n63, only buy 2014-2016 550 as they come with n63tu. Do some searching on n63 to learn more. n63tu is good and has 445hp/490 lb-ft

21k is too much for a 2012 550i with a notorious engine. Good options and mods though. I’d say more like 16k since you will need work on the engine sooner or later. Either valve stem seals or the whole engine swap

In my opinion if this car has a tune that means it's been already abused. Most people want to a buy a car that's been driven from a Grandpa. Like mentioned above and there's many threads regarding this particular model and year is one of the models to stay away from yet alone one that's already modified

2 years ago I am in the market of getting a 5 series and I do my research and find out never touch the 550i as they have tons of issue specially over heating the turbo and fuel pump then I end up with getting a 535i xdrive as the engine is more reliable and in the pass 2 years he never giving me any issue

Thanks for the input. Did some more research on this engine and it might even be worse than my temperamental N54

I am now looking at a N63tu. Do you know how many miles the N63tu can go with good maintenance? Found a "deal" on a 2014 650i gran coupe for 21k with 94k miles

Maybe I should just take my $25k budget and get a nice lower mileage 535i...

I think they're asking too much for that car. I just purchased a '13 550i w/ exec, cold, and heads up display pkgs for 20.6k. 78k miles. I found some '14 550s for less than 25k a month or so ago, but they were way too far from me to make it worth it to get.
