Automatic rear sun shade retrofit
Hi all. I'm looking to install an automatic rear sun shade in my 2013 F10. I'm seeing a lot of chatter around JBE compatibility. Is there a way to check if my JBE is suitable before I go and by the parts?

Are we talking about the door blinds or "just" the rear jalousie/blind in the rear window shelf?
Would be interested in that as well - but a quick look in the parts catalog told me that this runs $$$ since the door trims are needed and the rear window shelf - mine is Individual with Alcantara - so even more $$$ And its not only the parts - wiring is needed for the rear window blind as well - just not sure if with some options the wiring and/or control unit is already in place. Can you pls educate me what JBE is? Cheers Lars |

[Edit: the roller sunblind is really just an "electrically operated roller sunblind" and is not really automatic] |

If you change the driver's door switch assembly (requires door panel removal), that includes the roller sunblind switch, and then run two wires (green and white) from the JBE to the roller sunblind, VO code the roller sunblind (in the JBE), that's all there is too it.... In your case where you want to keep the Alcantara on the rear shelf, there are few on eBay from M5's that have Alcantara rear parcel shelf panel (P/N 51468038146) |

Sounds not that complicated and if all parts are available used that drives costs down - hope someone who has retrofitted this can jump in and we get some experienced view here to avoid any hassle here.

Well, I did the retrofit......and willing to help....are you going to source a JBE that supports the roller sunblind and do you have the ability to VO code after the installation? BimmerCode works just fine....

To complete the list the switch which is needed in my case is P/N 61319241956 and as already mentioned the rear window shelf P/N 51468038146 an with the JBE and round about 500$ later everything is in the driveway waiting for the install
Have to think about that again in comparision/prio with other mods, but thank you so much for your help! |

If this does NOT work, report back. Note: You do NOT need to enable "DTC_Sunblind_Protect", but if you do, it shouldn't change anything....that I'm aware of. Hope this helps. |

M_Bimmer my JBE arrive, looking at the A34*1b, how do you connect the pin 3 and 30? I have not open up the glovebox. I'm assuming the wiring harness for A34*1b do not have wires for pin 3 and 30.
Do I just get some female crimp terminal and slot it into the empty pin 3 and 30 holes? Thanks |

The JBE connector assembly where you need to plug into socket location 3 and 30 is shown below.....I believe the socket is P/N 61131393704, but please double check this by measuring the socket that is currently in this connector. |

hky, are you sure JBE P/N 61359286940 supports rear sunshade? I found two vehicle VIN's that use the JBE P/N you posted and they did NOT have the rear window power sunshade in their VO list.
You need to select a JBE that supports all of your current vehicle's JBE options + Rear Sunshade. If your vehicle did NOT come from the factory with rear sunshade, then they installed a JBE that DNP'ed the electronics on the Circuit Card.... Reach out if you need help getting the right JBE part number. Cheers. |

You did make sure you have at least a 7.5A fuse installed for the rear roller blind, right?
If your F10 has a build date of 8/2010 or older, it's fuse location F32. If your F10 has a build date of 9/2010 or newer, it's fuse location F66. |

Let's assume your JBE P/N is correct and you installed a fuse in the right location to power up the JBE's Rear Blind Roller FET. I'd make sure that your blind motor actually works with 12VDC connected directly to the purple two-wire connector on the rear parcel shelf.
Check both polarities......but don't keep 12VDC connected for too long if no movement is seen..... |

Hi M_Bimmer
Oh, I was not aware of the need for the 7.5A fuse, need to check on that. Yes, when it didn't work, I hook up a battery to the 3 and 30 wires and the roller works. Thanks, will update you. |

hky, at this juncture, if your motor works on the rear shade, and the fuse is in the right place, and you've FDL coded correctly, then you have one or more of the following issues:
1. The blind switch on the Driver's door is faulty 2. The wiring from JBE to the blind is incorrect 3. JBE is not accepting the FDL code If you use ISTA test plan, the effort to check each one out would be pretty straight forward. Let me know how I can help you....
