Don’t buy my 2011 550i – xDrive
As many of you know the 550i is plagued with issues mostly having to do with the engine. You likely also know this car is one of the most amazing sedans of all.
I strongly recommend that you under no circumstances buy a BMW 550i, but if you are foolish enough to buy one, you should by mine. My 2011 550i has 60K miles on it and it has been pampered exclusively at BMW of Dallas. It is currently on the last 200 miles of an extensive bumper-to-bumper warranty. My warranty company has suffered tremendously throughout my ownership of this amazing car. To date they have spent approximately $20,000 replacing seemingly endless issues. Currently, this car is perfect and is ready for a new owner who wants to attempt to tame the stallion. I just put the car in the shop to brutalize the warranty company one last time and asked BMW perform the upcoming maintenance. This car is 100% and ready to go. My intention was to trade this car in for a new one. Sadly, I have discovered how little this car is worth. The dealer has offered me $11,500. I’m not ready to let it go for that, but also it is a great opportunity for a fellow car nut to start off with a perfect example of this car. I am asking $14,000 (likely won’t take much less), but I’m willing to take offers. The car is located in Dallas Texas. Partial Listing of repairs - Removed and overhauled the engine (due to oil leaks) - Replaced the steering rack and some joints - Replaced the suspension pump - Replaced the ignition coils (multiple times) - Various sensors - All recalls current like the airbags & aux water pump - Battery - turbo charger work - I’m positive, I’m forgetting many other things - Brake service and pads Options - Heated & Cooled seats - Simi automatic closing doors - Blind Spot Detection - Lane assistance - Heated steering wheel - AWD - Keyless Go Let me know if you have any questions. Pictures to come. |

I asked my buddy when I was shopping around for an f10 which one I should buy, a 550 or a 535 and he quickly and strongly recommend the 535. He said the 550's were always at the dealer for issues and were problematic.

If no one is crazy enough to buy my car, I will likely trade it after the new year. I'm soured on BMWs for now. I'm eyeing a C450, but I'm not sure I can squeeze the baby seats in.

I am looking at that exact car myself right now. I was debating between a loaded 2015 535i or a 2015 528i with the same options/packages. Msport on both, of course. I'm leaning towards the 535 with bigger engine, but it is $3.5k more.
