DINANTRONICS Sport tuner causing CEL (121201)
Ok so installed the Dinan sport tuner few weeks back with no issues. Car was in the shop for some work and had them update it for the trans. This supposedly updated the entire car. On pick up the CEL was on, scanned and came back with "Boost pressure sensor, plausibility caster: pressure too high", reset it and drove home. Came back. I unplugged the Dinan tuner, reset code, drove around with multiple on/off and no longer appears. Rechecked with bimmerlink, all good.
Is it really possible that the car update done by ista with now throw code when the dinan tuner is connected? |

Spoke with DINAN as it is directly related to their tuner- Have to return for replacement. Surprised no else using this tuner has ever never encountered a CEL??? I cannot be the only one!

I've used the Sport tuner on my car for over 2 years on my 2014 535i without issue. I just took it off last month and went with Bootmod3. I helped the person I sold the tuner to (2015 528i) install his and verified he didn't get a CEL either. Perhaps you just had a faulty unit?

Update: Received the new tuner, installed and no more CEL. Although, now I do not get the live boot pressure values on the app as I did before. Do I need to reconnect?

Glad to see they replaced it for you. I have had my Dinan Sport installed for a little over a month now with no problems until today, I got the exact same error code. Emailed Dinan, hoping i get mine replaced as well.

Very well, *knock on wood* but many on this forum have bm3 across different platforms and compared to the piggyback tunes, the complaints are pretty much zero. It is straightforward and easy, only reason not too would be if you are still under BMW only warranty.

Just installed a used stage 3 unit in my 535i. I used the Bluetooth app to change the setting from stage 3 to 1 as I don’t have any required mods such as intercooler nor intake as required for stages 3. However for the guys running Dinan, you guys using stage 1? I heard i can run stage 2 no problem without any mods. Obviously Dinan recommends and stated intake is required for stage 2.

After doing more research, i took the plunge and enabled stage 2 without any add-on mods (fully stock). And i have to stay, the power is much more noticeable in sport/sport+. Normal mode, not much difference, bit of more torque. But in sport/sport+ i feel a lot more torque and holding rpm longer before switching gears.
I have to say its not insane amount but for sure noticeable power increase, vey happy with the purchase |

you jinx'd me, I started getting DTM lol. However I ran a scan, and determined the issue. Looks like my battery is bad, which I knew already. Ive been meaning to get a new battery since winter, and totally forgot about it. Did a recondition using my ctek, and looks like non of the error codes are back and DTM is gone
Gonna head out today to get a new battery, FYI my battery is the original battery came with the car, almost 10 years old, lol. CTEK really prolonged the battery life for sure, but now looks like the battery is finally dying. |

Took the car and pushed it hard to see if the errors came back, and so far no errors! Will need to test even more but looks like it was all related to battery. Still going to buy a new battery, but so far happy with DINAN. Stage 2 is great! Significant power increase (butt dyno) from my daily driving. I’ll keep an eye out for errors, and if it happens more, I’ll for sure check out bm3

Quick update, been using my battery tender every night since and haven’t gotten a single error since
Finally today my new battery from Costco arrived (energizer h8 agm). Installed it, coded and registered using BimmerCode/BimmerLink. Everything still working fine I’ll keep an eye for errors and report back. Hopefully it was due to old battery. Confirmed today, battery date was 10/01/2010. |
