20x10 ET34 - Will It Rub?
So I snagged a set of Beyern Ritz in Gloss Black the other day.
Car: 14' 550i xDrive M Sport Front: 20x9 ET25 Rear 20x10 ET44 From my understanding, that front offset should work out well. The rear though could use a spacer. I have heard that 35mm is ideal. But finding a 9mm spacer... I can find 10's and I'm wondering if that extra 1mm is a deal breaker and I need to go to something like 5mm instead? Currently the car is not lowered. But most likely will go to H & R springs eventually unless someone has better recommendations (Dinan, Godspeed, Megan, Eibach, etc)? Last edited by 1Kurgan1; 10-13-2021 at 11:50 AM.. |

Congratulations! I am jealous about what you guys can do.
Over here in Europe you need serious paperwork to get non-standard rims installed. And if rubbing could be a factor, there will definitely be no papers to go forward. Enjoy! PS: Sorry for not being to the point resp. of any help. |

It will depend on your tire size. 275 should be ok, 285 might be close.
10mm spacer should be fine, 1mm is a very small difference. I'm using a 12mm spacer on an ET45, so it's effectively an ET33 with a 9.5" wheel. |

I guess I will order the 10mm and see what happens. As you say, 1mm is not much, hopefully that 1mm isn't that last bit that matters |

Here they are, it turned out nicely. I had to sneak the old 540i6 into one of the pictures too. And that is snow in the next pic, the next day both those cars were covered in snow and I was riding my snowmobiles around.
I did not end up lowering it. I think it could use maybe .5" off the front to balance the wheel gap a bit better. But a few mm less offset on the front might be required for that. The 10mm spacers seem perfect, at least for stock suspension. Overall I am very happy, especially at price I snagged it all for. I just need to figure what center caps I want to run now. I haven't ever lowered anything before, would it be a no-no to just put some small drop springs on the front to level the gap out? I suppose it would depend on spring rates, so I'm not sure if any option out there would line up with factory or be that small of a drop. Even half an inch might be too much, but I can't imagine there is any springs that drop less than that.

There are drop perches available for front of the E90 cars for that very purpose, but as far as I know nothing similar for the F10. I believe ACS makes a set of very mild lowering springs, but I'm far from an expert there and you'd be best to do your own research.
I also believe the standard F10 dampers are weak even with the original springs, and any increase in spring rate would exacerbate the situation. Again, my impressions only. I've lowered cars on stock dampers before and every time it's been a disappointing result. |
