Still looking for that new thread, Bmw double. Since Pure Stage 2 is on sale this week at 15% off, it's a pretty opportune time to buy.

You've definitely intrigued me with the prospect of upgrading at the same time from PWG to EWG. I'm already eyeing several EWG cores. But, it's kind of dependent on how wastegate control operates in the end. I'd prefer to see that it's still DME controlled and have a custom tune built out by one of the Bootmod3 tuners.

If it's direct wastegate control from JB4, then I need to know whether I'd need to buy an EWG version, even though I have a PWG car and if there are any other special considerations.

The sale's over on Friday, so answers to those questions to allow an informed decision would be greatly appreciated.

Don't be hasty on a purchase. The conversion is the first of its kind and it wasn't an easy pnp. It's not controlled by a JB4 and it's all DME, but there was major updates to hardware besides the turbo itself. Not sure if its suitable for the faint of heart. Almost there so stayed tuned.

You can always buy the turbo and sell it for a profit if you're getting FOMO Personal recommendation would be put that turbo money in Bitcoin>make a profit>buy turbo + dividends

Hey guys I’m new to this. I’m considering installing pure turbo stage 2 on my 535 xdrive but don’t want to do all the extra with meth kit or port injection. Will a tune get the job done without meth or port injection?

It will, but you won't be able to go beyond 15 psi without port injection or meth.

I use it mainly for Pi control, and fine tuning boost control. I also like having gauges wirelessly on my cell phone and easy logging.

Understood, makes sense. Also wanted to know what your thoughts are about the PS2 Turbo.

I currently have 2013 535i (8spd Auto) with k&n intake, catless VRSF DP, VRSF CP, Magnaflow mufflers, Wagner FMIC and BM3 Tune. Ran last night at 75 degree weather and Average time was:

FBO- 60 ft 1.8 @ 12’90’s 104mph (I really thought I’d be in the mid 12’ with a lot more mph).
Stock- 60 ft 2.0 @ 13,80’s 98mph stock.

My thoughts are, either I need to see where and why Im losing power. (Feels like it’s dying on high rpm and too end). Personally I think the turbo is just not strong enough even with the mods. Had it connected to my computer and I’m going from around 17psi and down to 10/11/12 toward high rpm. Thinking my turbo and factory wastegate might be holding my power back.

Been looking at the PS2 and reading all the issues you had. Did it make a huge difference? Cause the turbo, fuel pump, diverter valve and spark plugs would run me 3-4k without instal. Any advise and tips would be greatly appreciated. I also thought about selling the 535 and buying a used M5 but that’s also a 20k upgrade so maybe the PS2 might be the better deal.

Is it known as a slow track? 98 is fairly slow for stock trap speed. The magazines generally got 100-102 for trap speeds, although those guys are known to generally get better times.

Look at the bright side - you gained 6mph in the trap. That *IS* a really significant difference, and it would be similar to the gain in going from say a N20 powered vehicle to a N55 powered one. My guess is your BM3 tune has a bit of room for improvement. Have you thought of sending the log to one of the guys that do custom tunes, or played with an E85 blend to ensure strong timing? The other question is if you are looking to spend 4-5k on Pure St2 plus fuel parts, there isn't much of a jump to get a proper Speedtech setup with a manifold that isn't strangling the turbo? A pure at 20+psi is really high strung, compromising longevity, versus a Speedtech at the same power level. I have a cast log style manifold (similar in design to the Speedtech) on my NA-T 2JZ, and it has been golden. Good luck. We have lots of choices!

Hello Scott- I live in south Florida and run at Palm Beach International Raceway. I do not believe it’s a slow track, just can’t go based off magazines all the time. I had a good launch and run, that’s all she could do stock. I actually had a run of 13’9 @ 99 as well. Don’t see N55 535’s being able to do any better stock. Maybe a tenth or mph here and there.

That being said, I appreciate the feedback, I did not know I had any other option than PS2. I checked out Speedtech & love the setup, they are sold out of their kits. I also didn’t see anything for the 535i, just 335i (I know it’s pretty much the same) but I’m not sure how difficult it would be to get that working on mine since they would have some minor differences.

I just started tuning my car the last few months so I’m not sure on E85 and when I can run it and what I’d need. All I know is the mix 30% with 93 fuel. Not sure if I need a custom tune or anything else.

Unfortunately the PWG compressor wheel is tiny for a 3L engine. Even a Stage 1 turbo will help noticeably. They're half the price of a Stage 2 and apparently are a lot cheaper to install too. A Stage 1 and E30 would be a very decent upgrade over stock PWG turbo on pump fuel.

I've decided not to even bother tuning my PWG 535i at all until upgrading the turbo.

Fair enough, but .9 sec and 6mph improvement in 1/4 mile time is substantial and would feel night and day more powerful in day-to-day driving.

Good point and yes, the factory turbo seems like it’s only good for 300/350hp and then it dies down. And with the second off my 1/4 time the car does runs a lot better and way more fun to drive, I just want a little more too end and I’ll be happy. That’s where a turbo upgrade will help.
