Brake Force Display - BimmerCode

I just finished coding for Brake Force Display via BimmerCode. Didn't need to get into Expert Mode, it was all there in the Footwell Module (FRM) menu. I only did two things...

Brake Force Display Type/ Blinking

Brake Force Display flashing frequency/5

Below is a screenshot of the menu before making changes to BFD.

IF you are not familiar with Brake Force Display, please take a look at the video below...

Interesting - didn't know this was possible. I've always thought that the brake force display was a good idea but unlikely to be all that noticeable to the average driver. The flashing will definitely get attention in emergency braking situations.

Phil:

Were you aware that we have rear fog lamps? All you need is a European switch....

ECS Tuning - European Lighting Options
https://www.ecstuning.com/News/BMW_F...013_2014_2015/

Plug and play. No coding required for this option.

Never been to GA; however, I have a good friend that resides in Jasper. He has told me it can get misty out that way. This is a good safety option without the hassles of coding.

Rear Fog Lights - OFF

Rear Fog Lights - ON

Thank you! It definitely does get misty here in GA and I've wished we had the rear fog light option a couple of times this year already.

It is a good way to keep persons off your six. I have engaged this option in heavy LA traffic, as some drivers get a little too close for comfort. Also, on several occasions, have engaged this feature in coastal fog.

JFYI, this rear fog light feature can be coded. If I am not mistaken, it turns on with the headlights. I have seen the option in BimmerCode. I prefer the Euro switch, as you have the on/off button.

In regards to BFD, I will shoot a video, and post.

I coded BFD so a following driver can see just how fast I'm slowing. As the car doesn't "nose-dive" in heavy braking, it gives the in-trail driver a visual signal that I've stomped on the whoo pedal.

The rear fog light option is already coded and just needs the switch. They can be had from many places and is a simple plug-n-play job. It pretty much takes longer to talk about it than to actually do the work.

I would love to see some additional coding options for BFD which would influence activation when ABS activates too, not just a certain deceleration rate. When it's slippery out, it would be valuable for those following you to know you're braking at your traction limit, even if that isn't very much braking force. Maybe those options are in there - don't know.

Agree did this on my F10 and E90 (though on the E90 I just had to cut two little plastic tabs - the rear fog button is already there just limited from being pushed. Zero cost!)

it's not a deceleration rate, it's based on pedal force.

That's not what I've read (and still doesn't address the issue of braking on ice etc...)

Even JEG23's thread linked earlier in this thread (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=675251) documents parameter FRM_AUSSENLICHT_PARAMETER expressing triggering deceleration in m/s^2

FRM->3050 FRM_AUSSENLICHT_PARAMETER, 30->ESS_ON_VERZ (default for Europe (14 dec) 10 m/s2; default for US (10 dec) 8 m/s2)

I'm just saying that I'd love another verte or aktiv option to add ABS as a trigger. If you're braking at your limit, regardless of how much deceleration or pedal force, give the option to activate BFD.

I would have sworn I read it was based on how hard/fast the pedal was pushed...

I sit corrected!

Can someone verify if this works on the pre LCI F10? I see these options in my Bimmercode and have coded, but do not have a way to verify if the Brake Force display is actually functioning while driving.

You need to full brake with ABS on high speed.

Verify WHAT works? The phone coding - no idea. My F10 is pre-LCI and the BFD stuff I documented above is working.

I mapped adjusted options in footwell Module, but it is still not working in my 2016 F10 535. Is there somewhere else I need to turn it on? There are only 3 options in my brake force display box... ‘brake force display type’ is not an option.

I had the same issue on my '16. I gave up, but I do want to look back into this.

Did you have a V-Gate Wi-Fi dongle? I think I read this may be the problem....

If I remember correctly....Activated it in basic mode, and went into expert mode to adjust the g-force and delay settings.

No, I've got the VeePeak:

I haven't tried going into expert mode on the app yet. Don't wanna screw anything up

Any chance of getting a screenshot of your settings?

I was bummed when my wife was following me, and said that my lights weren't flashing under braking.
