I assume you know what a LSD does. In that case, wouldn't it be pretty easy for you to answer yourself as to weather or not it's worth it?

I've been curious about this too. I've yet to come across anyone having put an LSD in their F10. I haven't found anyone that's done it on an F10. This is what I've found with my limited research into them on our cars...
- Non-M F10s did not have LSD
- Very few companies make LSD for normal F10s, like Quaife and Wavetrack are the only I've come across
- Turner Motorsports says that they'll make a custom LSD for F10s, but give no details in pricing or what... just to contact them. So you know that means $$$$ lolol
- I researched the M5 diff, but found that this is an electronically-actuated LSD. To me this implies it would need a module to operate, which our non-M cars will not have wiring for it. Even IF it did, I didn't see anything regarding this subject area in Bimmercode to code this on IF it's even possible. So unless I'm wrong and someone has done this, I don't see a way to make this work

So the only realistic option is to go for a Quaife or Wavetrack. But then that's a cost-benefit factor that must be considered. This will be quite subjective from one person to another.

Personally, I'd love to have LSD! But for my commute and even on my road trips, I realistically would only take advantage of it 5% of the time when I have the time and space to play around. Maybe when I upgrade my turbo and IF I happen to experience excessive traction problems that better tires could not solve... I'll revisit the idea. At that point, the cost and labor would be justifiable to me. But at this point I have better uses for that money. I hope this makes some sense and it helps you in some way.

You guys need to look at this! This is on my list of mods, 180 for a used diff, 250 for this kit, and probably around 150 for the machine work. DONE, LSD.

He posted an initial impressions video a bit later as well. Seems like the kit is really only for traction, if you're looking for donuts/drifting, probably not it.

Hmm, well I'm not sure the F10 is the right car to be doing donuts/drifting in but one thing I have learned is that people modify whatever is in their garage! LOL. Which, it's all good.

From my perspective what more would you want than traction? With coil overs, sways, strut bars, this kit is the perfect addition IMO for the next "piece" to make my car more predictable and secure in the curves.

Anyway, did you look at their site? Check out these videos here! No issues with drifting or donuts!

https://www.racingdiffs.com/bmw/

I love vehicular DIY but those 6 vids up there seem to show that donuts and drifting are very possible.

Not saying you can't. Just that the person in the video said it's just better for traction. I'm guessing for drifting and donuts, there's probably better options.

Personally I don't have issues with traction. Yet. We'll see once/if I go PS2

Really? Do you do any hard cornering? I noticed the car do be a little unpredictable when she breaks loose on corners... part of that is how/when the turbo spools right when I go into a curve. This is why I'm focused on controlling that sliding and the really hard body roll back and forth I get when coming out of the turns.

I'm hoping between CO, sways, and the LSD that it'll be more predictable and not rebound so hard. In other words, two wheels spinning when pushing it is easier to control than one wheel losing traction.

But that is all off topic. Based on the videos I see on their site, unless you are doing drift comp, this would probably work great. Otherwise just put a full locker on it and call it good

OK, I contacted the company and they DO NOT sell a kit for the f10 yet. I watched some of their videos and by the time I bought all the tools needed to do this job, as fun as it would be, it wouldn't be as cost effective as the initial #'s show. SO... someone suggested a m5 diff and on ebay 30k miles they go for 5-600. Not bad right? However look at this:

http://m5carblog.blogspot.com/2013/02/differential.html

Looks like there is a computer that controls a motor that tights the clutch to lock up the diff. So I would imagine you'd also have to buy the module and get programming done. I didn't search the forums but I'm sure THAT is cost prohibitive as well. Can anyone confirm this?

Thoughts or comments anyone? I'd really like to do this next. Looks like it's wavetec, VAC motor sports has an interesting option, but as far as quaife a quick search didn't reveal any US vendors. Anyone have a link for that one?

Any noticeable affects with that eBay strut tower sway bar? When I did my lower lower front and rear it was a noticeable increase in cornering stability.

I don't do too much hard cornering, but when I do the car's traction feels fine. My suspension is a lot more stock than yours though, so it's hard to apply my situation to yours.

It's in my cart on ebay, meaning I haven't pulled the trigger yet. H&R's coming in this week and I'll get them done, then Coil Overs will be in the week after that or so and those will go on. I should probably do the strut tower bar with that all at once... we'll see how ambitious I get and if I want to spend my next 80 bucks on that bar. Probably will now that I'm writing this out... lol.
