Need feedback on Megan Racing axle back exhausts

I'm looking into buying this pair of Megan Racing mufflers for my F10 535xi:

https://meganracing.com/store/mr-abe-bf10-srt-rr-rl

Does anyone have experience with these in terms of daily driving and the dreaded interior exhaust drone? I've never heard of Megan Racing but am not in a position to spend $1000+ for new mufflers. I'm also hoping to avoid the obnoxious empty Folgers can garble put out by cheaper systems.

there's a lot of few members from back in the day that ran the Megan's. no complaints and i don't recall them complaining about drone issues. usually drone issues are the muffler delete option.

Thanks for the info. It's surprising that there aren't more posts about these axle back systems, they are $600 and look great.

There's actually quite a few like I said but the F10 itself as far as the modding community has slowed down over the years.

The problem was that it took close to end of life of F10 to make any real power out of it. Causing people to either ditch the platform or move to the new g platform. I have MPE exhaust which is quiet similar to Megan sound wise and if I didn't get a super nice deal on the MPE I would have def. gone with Megan. Why because she look sexy lol.

There are m5 version with black tips on eBay I think that look sexy. I would get those instead and a diffuser. Quad tips for life. Let me see if I can find them.

It's all personal taste. To me if it's not true quad (which the n55 is not) then it's all for show. I just prefer dual exhaust with some nice tips. I get the investment is a bit higher buuuuut, it's not like a molding piece, I'd err on the side of caution and go with a Dinan or someone a little more suited to the cars engine. Dinan has served this engine for BMW for years. Again, that's complete personal opinion and I don't have exhaust yet either, but I've been looking and driving my family nuts with sound clips for weeks. : seriously no disrespect to those that have quad exhaust.

Lol no disrespect, that is personal opinion and choice and I was just putting it out there as option. I can argue that n55 specially 535i xdrive is just a family sedan with luxury and don't ruin it by putting an exhaust on it lol. I think MPE exhaust would be best instead of Dinan. MPE will give it nice sound but not be obnoxious and wake up the neighborhood in the morning .

I pulled the trigger on this setup, I offered $550 and they came back with $580 shipped:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/MEGAN-RACIN...0AAOSwHnFVt~Lm

I'll post updates when I install it, hopefully it isn't too loud.

Dinan is too quiet! you might as well leave the stock exhaust! for the money Dinan is asking for when they first released was laughable

I forgot to mention technically our cars are single exhaust but BMW for the looks I am guessing creates two outlets from the single turbo lol.

Honestly that's my struggle. On my e46 I had magnaflow with a resonator removed so it sounded sooooo good. Before that I had dinan on my e30 and that sounded really good. I've been down this road before. Find the note you want and start with the exhaust that person has and if they modded it at all. Then you gotta find out how they programmed (or lack there of) for the note that fits your ear.

Make sure to post up pics/video after install. I'm considering the dual tips for myself, which I think I would couple with a resonated catless downpipe and have a local shop fab up an X-/H-Pipe for the mid-section.

I'm curious if the 2.5" piping on the Megan is too restrictive. I know that it's barely larger than stock, but if you go from a 4" downpipe (14+) down to that, won't that just bottleneck the back pressure?

Will do, I'm having them installed today and will hopefully have time to post videos this weekend.

I'm really just looking for a more aggressive exhaust note, without it being obnoxiously loud or having to deal with interior drone all day. I'm also working with a small budget this year.

My last vehicle was a Dodge Ram, I replaced the entire exhaust system from the headers back for maximum air flow, then spent over a year trying to reduce drone by installing resonators and sound damping material. It didn't help that Hemi engines scream when they fire up, the exhaust sound would echo off my neighbors houses. It was a pain in the ass and resulted in me going back to the stock exhaust system with a very conservative Flowmaster muffler.

Got the Megan Racing Supremo system installed today and am very impressed. The sound is low and clean but definitely gives a good growl and increases the sound of the turbo. The only real drone is at low RPM's, like at stop lights, but it's very minor. You hear it inside at slow speeds but the engine and exhaust sound balance out throughout the rev range, cruising on the highway and you hardly know it's there. If you want to hear the exhaust at all times this system might be a little tame for you, but I bought this car for quiet and comfortable driving.

I would not try and install it yourself unless you have exhaust tooling like tubing expanders and welding equipment. The sections that mate up with the OEM exhaust do not have the same angles (See 2nd image), they are off my a few degrees so clamps would not be a good option. You're also working with a 2.5" system mating to 2.35" BMW pipes so you'll need to expand the Megan Racing pipes to slide over the BMW pipes. The chrome Megan Racing tips don't look good on my car IMO so I found some 4" carbon fiber tips on eBay to complete the look.

After I get my car cleaned I'll post more pics and sound clips of starting/driving.
