What are the shops saying? That sound is coming from your tranny even though your not shifting? That may be the exhaust downpipe possibly... take it to a shop for a diagnostic.

Not good. How long have you had that car? My buddy had a similar sound on his salvaged M5 he picked up. Turned out to be a damaged rod. Use a stethoscope to pin point the ticking sound.

Could be several things. First, would be to order a new filter/pan and correct 8hp transmission fluid. Then drop the pan to inspect.

Upon first noise from the video, it could simply be the magnet is loose in the pan, the internal pan is cracked if you drove over something that hit it, or a loose mechatronic with a backed out bolt.

There are numerous other reasons, but not knowing the history of maintenance, your driving history, or how the transmission shifts, it cannot be diagnosed with just that video. Dropping the filter/pan is the first thing to do to inspect.

Lastly, check the rubber mounts for the engine and transmission. The filter/pan and trans fluid at the very least will ensure proper fluid level and good maintenance.

I mention this potential issue because my buddies M5 was making the ticking noise from the same area under the car. We thought it was transmission too. He tore down the engine and discovered a damaged rod.
The previous owner had poorly tuned the car. Probably why it was salvaged.

Have the same sound of my BMW F10, 528i, 2011. Already driven 13000 miles like this. Have changed the gearbox pan and oil recently, but it did not helped. Still the sounds comes on once the engine gets warmed a bit, and disappears once fully warmed up. If you will find the problem, please reply to this post!

Thanks!

Put your gear paddle to manual, switch to second or third gear and this sound will disappear. Just apply the brake before switching to the second gear

It means you need to see gearbox specialist. I am going to leave my car tomorrow for this problem. Will update you with repair process.

Rattle noise near torque converter

You may be missing these sound insulation caps, P/N 24 14 7 603 258 and P/N 24 14 7 567 139. They plug holes in the bell housing between the engine and the transmission.

BIG_KID 2011 28i N52 with ZF 8 speed these part solved his problem

Hi. I have exactly the same situation. When switching to M2, the knock disappears. When I return to position "D", the knocking is resumed again. Did you somehow manage to solve this problem, find out what is the reason?
