Cell Phone Mount

Folks,

New F10 535 x drive owner (2016). Love the car...I mean love the car. My only issue is I have no where to put my iPhone 11. It doesn't fit in the cup holder, and I want to use my cup holder for a drink.

I do not want to put any adhesive on the wood grain or plastic and I have researched that the vent clip mounts tend to break the delicate vent components. I thought about the CD insert but the last one of those I had started spreading the CD slot wider and it looked damaged.

I also read one post that driver puts the cell phone in the passenger seat when advancing the leg rest. I have done that but feel when I'm driving a nice car like this, I should not have my phone on the seat.

Can anyone recommend a solution? One that matches the style of the car and something that is not UGLY?

thanks.

I have a small magnetic mounting bracket attached to the far right vent. It doesn't feel like it will break. The phone needs a metal ring attached to make the magnet work. Should be fine as mine has been there for daily use for over a year....

I have a vent mount that’s been fine for a couple of years. It doesn’t feel likes it’s going to hurt the vents. It does stop the vents from being moved up/down. It’s nicely within view, and it’s an inductive charge unit.

I wouldn’t be afraid of a vent mount as long as you’re not rough with it.

In the console. You can then connect the phone to the car via the snap-in adapter or usb cable. I use the adapter for access to the roof antenna for my phone.

I believe this is fully functional only if ordered from the factory.

i originally had the ProClip USA and it worked great!

but than went with the magnetic phone mount. works great. i don't see how you would break the vents unless you just rip things off without care?

thanks for the comments guys! Appreciate hearing (and seeing) what direction you went in. I saw the ProClip before and like that option but I also have some concern about covering the vent with the phone.

Would love to hear about any other options...

This is the way to go. It' blends in VERY WELL with the interior, mounts, and wirelessly charges at the same time. The charging cable is neatly tucked away and you take advantage of the hidden passenger footwell outlet.

You're looking at $70 for the ProClip, MagicMount 2, some 3M Extreme Mounting Tape, and 10 mins of instal time. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can even create a thin and slightly angled wedge to slightly turn the phone toward you so you can face unlock it while driving. It's not a big deal, but definitely helps to keep your eyes on the road. I ended up removing the wedge when I got rid of my iPhone 11 Pro for the Pixel 4 (seems to have a wider sensor for face unlock).

ProClip https://www.proclipusa.com/product/8...-console-mount

Magic Mount Pro https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

You will basically detach all attachments from the Magic Mount Pro and then use the 3M tape to attach it to the ProClip. It sits flush and clean. You can then tuck the cable like I have in the picture all the way to the power outlet. Done.
