Caliper Covers

I have 17" standard wheels on my 528i. I know at least an 18" wheel has to be on the car for covers to fit. Question is has anyone cut off the tops of the covers (where the edge overlaps the caliper)...to make them work?......The top lip you don't even see anyways as the wheel is so close to the caliper. Just an idea I had?...Don't really want to go the paint route, thanks!

i'll be honest but I won't speak on what others think. the caliper covers debate across this board and other forums kinda think it's cheap. that and the concerns of them popping off has been talked about. in my opinion you're better off painting them. lots of member have painted theirs and are happy with the outcome. I've had mine painted for a few years now and still looks as new as the first day I sprayed them. I went with the G2 brand. here's some pictures for reference. but it's your car and if that's the route you want to go with than i try cutting off the top if you think that works. good luck

+1 for painting, takes a little more time and effort, but to any car enthusiast caliper covers are just one of those things that are kind of a turn off, but I can understand your desire to change the look on them. That center flat clip always gets corroded and looks hideous, managed to do so on my Florida owned 535i with 40k

Been checking out powder coating...

Has anyone gone this route....It is so easy do these days just by buying the kit. I already have an air comp. & a small elec. oven. Down side is having to bleed to brake system. Used to be able to do that at home, don't know anymore......may have to take it in and get it power bled? LMK Thanks!

You don't have to remove the calipers if you're planning on painting them
